So, for the third day of blues (and two greens), Eddie seems to be stabilizing over a 24 hour period, not having such drastic bounces. I was expecting a yellow this morning but was pleasantly surprised.

I'm thinking the suggestion to give him his larger meal at night for the shot has helped the hills and valleys to level out.

I've been told that Vitamin B12 can help with any neuropathy but to be effective it needs to be the injectable form and it needs to be Methylcobalamin.

Eddie has a bit of neuropathy and I was wondering about getting this form of B12 for him. I have found a compounding pharmacy nearby and they could make up a vet dose of 0.25ML/once per month.

Does anyone have any experience with B12?

Here's the sticky on neuropathy:

What you want is methylcobalamin B12. Zobaline is one of the brands available but it is expensive. A more economical option is Vitacost:

Just empty a capsule into his food once a day. No need for compunding or shots.

What helps most with neuropathy though, is getting his blood sugar regulated. And you seem to be getting there! :)

I used Zobaline. Methylcobalamin. The vets usually have cyanocobalamin available. You could do injections if you want to and can obtain it, but unless he has intestinal disease which would mean that he may not absorb the B-12 well, the oral methylcobalamin will be sufficient.

You want methyl B12, not cyanocobalamin, and I'm not sure you can get methyl B12 injections.

I'm hoping the new food program is preventing both fast drops and low drops at night, helping him flatten out. Did you get any later tests today?

Yep. Methylcobalamin for neuropathy. I like Zobaline although the other stuff is cheaper. I agree it’s hard to get the methyl injectable.

I agree about the new food program. I think it has made all the difference, didn’t get any more readings, just on my way home.
BTW I can get the Methocob compounded.

Yes, he still takes Prednisolone. He has to take it forever as the pituitary is removed. He gets 1.25mg once a day.
That’s a small dose… I mean that’s good that he’s on a small dose. Did the surgery not work. Did they miss something? He had SRT afterwards? Some time later.

Yes, he also takes Desmopressin: 0.05 mg am and 0.025 mg pm.
He also takes Thyroxine (0.1mg BiD). We raised his Thyroxine about 10 days ago and his numbers have been getting better.
I think you are an amazing and wonderful person for everything you have done/are doing for Eddie. I just want to hug you!

They were able to get only 60% of the tumour in the hypophysectomy, which he had in December 2020. Then in February he had SRT (3 sessions) and the radiation oncologist says it's probably going to show its effects in 9 months. And that's just about now!

Wow! How exciting. It certainly takes time. I wish you and Eddie all the best!! Where did he have the hypophysectomy?

He had it at Washington State University with Tina Owen, Annie Chen-Allen and Linda Martin: they are wonderful.

And you all are wonderful too, Thank you. I feel so supported.

I should change the thread title: as in remove "Stalling. Please Help".

I am so grateful for the response from you all. Like, wow, it really made me feel not alone in this!!
