Very lethargic, snotty, congested, not eating or drinking. :YMSIGH: If anything she is getting WORSE as time goes on. Spoke with the Vet yesterday and he suggested we give her another 24 hours to see if the antibiotics and vitamin b shot would kick in. Doesn't appear that has happened. Waiting on a call back from them to see if we are heading in again or trying an appetite stimulant/antihistamine.

I gave her half a dose of insulin yesterday in the AM- +4 was 177 down from 212, but it appears to have at least kept her down a bit for today. I am not really comfortable shooting with her like this...probably only got 2 oz of food in her for the entire day yesterday via syringe feeding.

She looks absolutely terrible. She's been sick now for 6 days & seems to be getting worse as time goes on.
I just sat there with her this morning and cried.

Ooh Kazi, I'm sooo sorry you're feeling rotten. Please get well soon!!

(((Amanda))) it feels terrible when they aren't well and you can't make it better. I hope today starts her recovery!
 
Hi guys .. I was really hoping for a better report on kazi today (as I'm sure you were hoping to post a better one!) It sure can be scary when our babies are sick can't it? I hope this is the worst of it and better days are right around the corner .. Feel better thoughts headed kazi's way!
 
She's running a temp now... just under a degree higher than it was on Tuesday, 102.8. Not a huge temperature...but it says we are not making progress. Our appointment was at 4:45 and she got a shot of Baytril *different antibiotic than before* & an antihistamine shot to try and get her breathing a little better. Thus far not seeing much if any improvement in the breathing, but she can't exactly blow her nose so maybe that will take a bit of time. Hopefully it is at least making her feel less crummy...she's under the bed right now. Will see if I can coax her out in a bit to snuggle under some warm blankets.

They want to see us back tomorrow morning to check her over again. She mentioned that we may have to do a short acting steroid - something both of us would like to avoid. Anyone know what the effects of that would be long term? I know it tends to raise the amount of insulin needed...but is that short term or longer? If it gets her feeling better and eating I suppose that the steroid is the lesser evil in the equation but I still cringe at the thought.
 
Oh, feel better soon Kazi! I hope the new meds do the trick. I know how awful you feel not being able to do anything but watch over her. That i a liot though, she knows it too. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon
