Good afternoon,

since two hours Binie is a libre girl again and we started with lots of errors. At the moment I can't get readings. We'll see, how much luck we have this time.

We managed amazingly well with the ear pricks. Yesterday I got quite a lot of tests without drama. Unfortunately I can only give it to her (like the shots) when she is occupied with licking churrus from a plate. And even the attraction of churrus becomes less, if you get too much. And I am still not sure when to prick best to understand what is going on.

She felt quite good this week but yesterday I noticed she is drinking and peeing more and today I noticed that she starts to lick her private parts again. So she is kind of uncomfortable and I have to do something.

I wrote to the vet that I guess we just have this one antibiotic left, which can further damage her kidneys. I asked her to please give advice.

The situation feels very unreal. She was doing so well this week. But her health situation seems quite bad. Not easy to bring all this together.

Hope everyone has a relaxed sunday! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

It's good that she is doing well.
Bella will let me shoot her only while she eats. It happened a few times that I forgot and put her plate down before doing the injection, she eats very fast and once she is done, she acts as if I am torturing her. She does not even flinch if I do it while she is eating. She learned that testing means she will have food just after, so she comes and sits where I test her when she wants food. It's cute. At first it was so hard, I had to hold her, she was screaming... now she licks my hand while I put the stick in the reader ;)
I hope you will hear from your vet soon. have a good sunday evening! Did you change time today, like in France?

Heike we will never judge you at all
You have done everything you could do for Binie
You are the best mom he could ever ask for. Sending you lots of hugs and kisses for Binie :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
I hope your vet can give you some advice

Thank you so much Cecile! :bighug::bighug::bighug: It helps me to read, that I am not the only one who struggled with shooting and testing. I don't want to inject Binie with her normal food, as she is a picky eater since she was diagnosed and I don't want her to stop eating. So she gets her insulin with the "dessert". So sweet Bella licks your hand while you put the stick in the reader! Looks like you really made something enjoyable out of it! :cat:

Yes, we also had the time change last night. I already started to move her shooting time gradually last week so today we are just 15 minutes away from her usual shooting time. I think in the US it is next week? Such a shame we don't get this extra hour sleep. But today I went back to bed after the injection. :)

Hope you have a relaxed Sunday! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, I hope the Libre works soon and well for you to help reduce some of your stress :bighug:

Great job with the ear pricks the past few days. You and Binie did just great. You must feel so proud you got through it. You knew just how to calmly manage her to feel ok about it all.

I really hope the vet has a good suggestion to give you.
Do you think you could ask her if there is someone she can confer with (an internal medicine specialist or someone who may have more specialized knowledge of these types of issues Binie is having?)

We are keeping you and Binie in our prayers for some positive ideas to help her.
You’re doing such a remarkable job with her care, Heike. :bighug::bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss:

Hi Staci,

thank you so much! :bighug::bighug::bighug: The libre shows numbers now but I got some strange errors. Even though I hope it works longer than the last time. Being able to prick her ear really helps me to manage my stress. I know I can keep her relatively safe, even if the libre is not working. So this was a good experience.

I already thought about consulting a bacteriologist and talked with my vet about it but she said they will also only look at the antibiogram and can not do more. After I did some research, that makes unfortunately sense to me. We have the antibiogram, know the germ and know the antibiotics we can give. We have the same situation in human medicine, especially for diabetics. Same germ, same problems. There are new treatments for humans but so far they are only approved in eastern Europe. So I don't really expect the vet to come up with great new advice unfortunately.

I think the issue on her breast would be something for a second opinion but as her situation with the germ is as it is, I don't want to drag her around anymore. She had enough the last two years. The iodine treatment and sitting in a small room for two weeks was already tough and this year she was at the vet almost twice a month and spent one night in the hospital.

So we take it one day at a time. I hope she can spend some more days at the terrace and we can do some more naps together.

Hope you have a nice evening with your sweet Ivy! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, I know you are looking at all possible options with complete and thorough investigation.
You know what is best for your sweet girl. You know her the best. I trust your judgment and understanding of everything.

I hope you both enjoy lots of naps together and sweet times on the terrace.
Wishing you a calm and restful evening. Hugs to you and Binie :bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss:
