all is well in punkin land this morning. he made sure both of us were present before he was tested. ear flicking procedure carried out to keep me trained to hang onto his ear for dear life. usual cheering and purring with his mouth open while the fud was getting ready. clean plate club membership maintained for both him and anya. and now the 20 second bath to wash off his face is already done. punkin loves routine!

i think adding the second litter box upstairs was a good thing. no accidents since i put it up here - so hopefully it wasn't a UTI, just not wanting to go downstairs. what i can't figure out, though, is if his joints hurt why he so freely jumps up on the coffee table and ottoman. he goes up and down off of those 10 times in an evening, and you would think that would be more difficult than the stairs.

oh well, he's doing his job of keeping me in the dark quite well! good boy, punkin! cat_pet_icon

Re: 10/26 punkin amps 257

I'm with Punkin...I love routine, too!

If his joints are bothering him, it may be the way they hurt that's causing issues. Before the adequan, Mario had an easier time with getting on low furniture than he did with the stairs, too.

Glad the new box is helping out!

Re: 10/26 punkin amps 257

Hi guys .. I don't think there is anyone on this board who doesn't love a routine! I'm glad to see the extra LB made a difference .. I would also have to agree with maybe it was the "way" his joints could have been bothering him? Hard to say that's for sure .. Have a great day guys!

Re: 10/26 punkin amps 257

Yeah for the new litter box! Stairs are kind of scary if one is a bit wobbly. OK, Punkin, I think some blues are a good idea for today. Have a good one!

Re: 10/26 punkin amps 257

I had to add an extra litter box because Tray is lazy sometimes and doesn't want to climb the stairs to where the original box was. Glad you've had no accidents since adding yours.

Sounds like a happy routine is in place for Punkin and the rest of the household.

Have a great day

as we all know - that's my job and my reason for being right now. figure out what it is, and give punkin what he wants!

ohmygod_smile D-ooh! But glad the extra LB is working! :-D

Good news that the new LB is working. And I agree on the achy joints - jumping on and off low furniture is just a quick action and it's over. Climbing or going down a staircase is a whole long journey.

I have a feeling most of us can relate to this.

I have RA and there are certainly some actions that are harder than others. I don't do stairs. I don't jump on furniture either.

Hope Punkin shows you some lovely numbers consistently, and soon. Keeping you all in my thoughts.

well rosalie, it sounds like someone got you nicely trained! no jumping on the furniture!

i guess he's bounced again. he didn't even get very low. i've tested him 4 times in the past hour because i couldn't believe the numbers. 85 at +5.5 then 297 and 310 at +6 and now 266 at +6.5.

i also abandoned the vial of test strips i was using and called ADW for a replacement. they were pretty nice about it. sometimes i've had to use 2-4 test strips on one sample to get it to read. i had one that was a 24 a few days ago and the immediate next test was up in the 80's. i think these test strips are old and something is wrong with them. but with 3 tests of 300ish i guess he definitely isn't 85 anymore.

he goes down the stairs very easily, on his own. he likes the basement, i guess. has his favorite rocking chair that he sleeps on and it's cool and dark down there. it's coming up that's a bit slow.

Julie, that is very frustrating to have bad or questionable strips. Grrrr.

Julie,
Thought I'd answer you here as well as in my condo. Thank you for your input on KT's flat yellows - you said what I was thinking...I think I need to increase a little again as I don't think that reduction held well. I think it had something to do with me changing to skinny 2.0 when he was getting so low.

...and yes, I know I'm supposed to get pm cycle checks but I've got medical restrictions that keeps me from doing that most of the time. If I suspect a major issue, I can force it but for the most part, I must stay in the 7a/10p....hubby does visual checks usually 3 times during the night and will wake me if he feels I need to watch something.

Punkin - I liked that 85 you gave MamaBean! You and Anya are so sweet.

Hugs Julie and thanks again!

Julie, have you tested your meter for accuracy with the solution? Also, Abbott Labs had some serious issues with some test strips so perhaps those were part of the bad batch and they slipped through the crack. I am not sure if Freesyle strips were effected but I had several boxes of Precision strips I had to get replaced last year. The number of effected strips was overwhelming so maybe you got a bad batch. Any strips you receive should go well into 2013 for an expiration date.

Punks...i gotz to thankz u...
ma bean goin' round house now sayin' "Punky Pee" 'stead of "Binksy Pee"

u a stand up guy, buddy...(pun possibly intended)

binks

binks and punkin could be peein' partners . . . that's as far as i'm going with that thought! ;-)

i forgot to give punkin his bupe this morning. the dh is wondering if that's why he went up at +6 - don't know if he's bouncing or if there was some pain causing the higher numbers. i guess we'll find out if he continues going straight up now or if he comes down in the next few hours. giving him the bupe in a few minutes.

not sure how in the world i'm gonna know whether or not we should continue the bupe. we've got a few more days worth of it to try. perhaps i'll get a fortune cookie that will tell me the answer. or a dove chocolate wrapper . . .
