Good morning. Just posted Apollo's AMBG 101.

Apollo didn't eat much for his AM feeding. I am going to the store later today to get a few more food options for him to try. I'm not sure if it's time to celebrate him being OTJ just yet, but he is holding his own.

Re: 10/26 Apollo AMBG 101

Since he hardly touched his breakfast I gave him a Fancy Feast Tender Tongol Tuna Appetizer and he proceeded to devour the thing. So I think it's safe to say he is hungry. Now I just need to find him a daily food he will eat.

I have my list of about 8 different ones to try. Will be sure to keep everyone posted. Why must he be so picky? My other cats haven't found one food that they don't like yet.

Re: 10/26 Apollo AMBG 101

I hope you find something he likes. I guess you could try making your own recipe and adding nutrients. Many people do that. If he likes the FF appetizers, you could mix that with home made chicken and add what he needs. Dr. Lisa gives a recipe for raw foods and the added ingredients will work for cooked food as well. I have actually talked to her about that. It is important that Apollo eat to maintain his health and since you know he is hungry, I would definitely try to get more food into him any way you can. Of course his BG might rise, but who knows? In any case, hope you find something. I was there with Morgaine and it took about 50 different flavors before we struck gold.

Re: 10/26 Apollo AMBG 101

I just got back from the store with several more varieties to try. I sure hope we find one he really likes.

Question: I noticed when I got back home that he had used the litter box and his poop was very soft (almost liquidy) and very black in color. Now the soft part I totally expected as I had been giving him Miralax over the last several days to help him with a bit of constipation he was having. When I took him to the vet to get an enema for the constipation his stool was very black at that time as well. The vet told me the black-ish stools were normal and that it can be that color whenever you feed only all wet low carb food. What do you all think? Is that normal? Anything I need to worry about? When he was on dry food it was always brown in color. What color stool does everyone else's cat have?

Forgot to mention the poop was really bad smelling. Also he is on Pepcid AC 1/4 a 10mg pill once a day given at night.

Can you direct me to where I can find the recipe for the added ingredients?

Re: 10/26 Apollo AMBG 101

That is the correct link.

Miralax will definitely cause loose poo, especially if you give it daily. Morgaine's stool is pretty dark so i wouldn't worry about that, especially since the vet said it was fine. If Apollo has been constipated, his poo might smell pretty bad until he cleans out.

Apollo's PMBG is 141.

Looks like that Appetizer might have spiked his BG a bit. Fed him EVO Turkey and Chicken Formula for PM feeding. He ate about 1/4 of a 5.5 oz can. So he did eat some of it, but nothing like does with the Appetizers. I have about 7 more to try, so we will see how he does over the next few days.
