Yesterday
Noogi doing okay this morning, although he is quite heavily medicated.
He slept quite well, although in his hidey-hole under my bed, not in his usual place. In fact he slept better than me - I got up several times to check on him. He did get up onto the bed this morning (he has stairs) for some cuddles which was nice.
He got his insulin and anti-inflammatory as usual this morning, as well as his painkiller in a syringe. Same med as the injection he had yesterday - it is Temgesic which contains buprenorphine. He is awake but quite out of it. Lots of sitting and staring into space. But I can see he is not in so much pain and he is moving a little easier. Yesterday his leg was out at an odd angle and he was sort of hopping and wobbling and dragging the leg. Now he is walking more or less in a straight line again, atho with some stiffness in his legs and haunches.
I texted with the vet a bit and he referred to it as neurological weakness in his hind quarters. He said the x-ray from a few weeks ago shows major damage in his spine, almost complete fusion of the discs, so likely related to that. Maybe a pinched nerve. He is happy Noogi is responding well to the Temgesic. The alternative medication option was gabapentin, but Noogi did not get on with that one previously. I have more Temgesic for tonight and tomorrow. We see the vet again Monday. Not really sure what the way forward is - guess we just have to see how he does rest of the weekend and Monday, and if the pain comes back.
He has used the litter tray and eaten some food. Only small bites at a time and rejecting his usual food. I was worried about him not eating so I did give him some gravy food, which may account for the higher numbers, along with the pain.
He did just settle for a time in his bed outside. But not for long - now he is lying on the pavers again. Not sure if its is the meds or pain that is making his restless.
Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts
