We are headed to the vet in about an hour. Kazi caught one of our other cat's colds and started sneezing constantly Friday night. Yesterday AM she stopped eating - was extremely lethargic....but sneezing less.

I stopped by the pet store and picked up some really stinky foods but she had no interest. I managed to get her to eat a bit of deli turkey yesterday - today she has no interest in that either. She IS drinking & using the LB. Thankfully her BG has stayed stable in the 170s and low 180s despite not having insulin since Sunday night. She seems a bit brighter this morning - not looking so much like death warmed over but still not eating so off we go.

Sounds like a trip to the vet is a good idea. Have you ever tried using L-lysine when the sneezing first starts? It boosts the immune system.

FYI: Given that Kazi is more than a year past diagnosis, reductions occur after she's dropped below 40. Once she's feeling better, let's see where her numbers are.

I don't think I've ever visited your condo - nice 'meeting' you. Kazi, you look good in blue but sure do look forward to getting it a little lower there... :-D

Amanda - good call on taking Kazi to vet for sneezing. It can turn into a URI very quickly. We go rounds with it about every year...a houseful of sneezing cats cause a lot of noise....

Well it looks like she has a bacterial infection - elevated white blood cell count. She was also dehydrated. Temp was a degree above normal, but the Vet said unless it goes any higher than that she doesn't even count it as running a temperature. Not much congestion. So she got some Sub-Q fluids, a B Vitamin shot and a shot of antibiotics. Hopefully she'll be feeling better by tomorrow morning.

Sienne - I ordered Lysine on Sunday night, just waiting on it to get here. Vet didn't know that it would help in this situation but said it wouldn't hurt.

sorry to hear kazi's feeling crummy - i never realized cats even got colds til i came here. none of my cats have ever seemed like they had one. hope kazi's feeling better really soon!
