Happy Friday!

Butch bounced today, stay flat in the yellows, after yesterday's day and night of blue and green.

AMPS meal 2%, +2 tilapia snack 2 tsp
PMPS meal 4%, +1.5 4% snack 1 tsp, +2 5% snack 1 tsp, +2.5 12% 1 tsp, +3 20%, Butch wasn't rising +3.5 66 20% 2 tsp w/ karo

We definitely went to sleep late last night with that big +2 drop I couldn't get him to rise with the 12%, so I had to feed 20% with karo Of course, his AMPS 366, so it looks like he bounced, and I am sure the high carbs and karo didn't help
I know Butch doesn't earn a reduction until he drops into the 40s, but the constant feeding of high carbs and giving him the karo only to keep him steady. I am thinking maybe to do a 1.75u little bit skinny I get so nervous!

Hi Madeline, I’m sorry to hear it was a struggle to keep Butch from dropping too low. Some cycles it gets so difficult.
There have been times where I have had to make a decision to decrease Ivy‘s dose when I am finding that I’m spending multiple nights in a week just feeding her carbs to keep her from dropping every 20 minutes to 30 minutes all night long. I just can’t keep up with that every single night and get no sleep.
And if all I’m doing is using higher carbs to keep her up that just seems like too much insulin to me.
I try not to do that unless we get into a nasty cycle like that, but I have done it.

I think you have to know what Butch does and see where the dose takes him.
If you do take a reduction you could always raise him back up again if it’s not doing what you want the dose to be doing after you give it some time.

I’m not giving you dosing advice. I’m just telling you what I do.

Hi Staci. Thank you so much for sharing what has worked for you and Ivy. I was thinking the same thing. It's especially scary when I am alone with Butch, and I can't test or that I can't get him to eat.
