In the morning(10.00 am), before I fed him It was 416. Then I fed him.
I checked 2 hours later (12.10 pm) and it was 172.
I fed him 12.10 pm and 05.00 pm.
I checked his blood sugar at 09.00 pm and his blood sugar was 168. I fed him again...
I checked his blood sugar again 12.30 am and It was 369.

I'm not sure you saw Sandy's post in your thread (or "condo" as we refer to a thread) from yesterday. (And we're all very glad that your safe and unaffected by the earthquake -- I hope your friends and family are also safe.)
A few questions:
1 - Are you feeding LC (low carb = less than 10%) food? Many of us feed food win the 3%-6% range.

2 - What will your shot times be? Will your schedule allow you to test/monitor Shanga's BG in between shots?

3 - How is Shanga feeling and behaving: does he have a good appetite and is he eating well? Playful?

Very important - Before you begin giving Shanga insulin, you need to also have supplies to treat low BGs, if needed:

Several cans of HC (high carb, 18% or higher) food
karo syrup or honey
plenty of BG testing strips
You may need to compare the nutritional information on the Fancy Feast cans from Turkey to those in the US. We can send you that information if you can't access the US information from the web.

All of this information is important and it will help us to assist you in deciding what your initial dose of Lantus should be.

Hello Everyone,

I would be happy if you send the link about fancy feast. Because I was thinking that it is the same canned food with US...Because They are imported....
Shanga eats well, and He misses his dry food, thats for sure. :)
I fed him tonight at 01.30 am and then 05.45 am again. In the morning his bg is 225 at 09.15 am...
And you are completely right that I need to feed him every 3-4 hours with small meals. I will feed him tonight 3 times until morning and I am really curious about tomorrow morning results...
I am still learning about SS and condo. Thank you for teaching me, that works very well. I have no word to tell How I am happy with your advices. You all heal my boy. If you wouldnt be there for Shanga, he wouldnt get normal bg levels... :) I ordered today automatic feeder for Shanga. So I am exciting for this :)
I hope he will get better. And my lantus is arriving today... Im gonna wait for tomorrow morning results and If Its high again, I will need your dose advices...
And Thank you for asking about earthquake again... I am ok but sad for others who live there... :(

Thank You Guys,
Shanga and me love you all :)

you're so sweet! I can tell how much you love Shanga. I remember when Isil first came here that she had a lot of the same problems. It can be hard to figure things out when what is available in your area is so different than what most of us have access to. You're doing great, though.

Honestly, after seeing the numbers you have put together and the way Shanga responds to food, I would rather see you try the feeding every 4 hours for a day or two before starting insulin. It looks like whenever you feed him, his numbers come down a lot within 2 hours. It's almost like his pancreas is using food in the same way it would use insulin - the food pulls the numbers down. Then if you don't feed for a while his numbers go back up. I like Sandy's suggestion to feed small meals every 4 hours. It's possible the numbers might not go as high. It's worth a try.

Dear Libby and Lucy,

I was thinking samething with you.... Before using insulin I would try to feed him with small porsions in the day.
It was going well until now. His blood sugar is 427. :(
I've just feed him again and I am gonna check in a couple of hours. Wish me luck pls. :)

and Dear Sienne and Gabby

Thank you for the links :)
