Lucy told me she wanted to say hello to all of her LL friends, so here we are! I told her to have a condo we had to do a test. She obliged with a nice one - 74 about an hour after dinner. Lucy has now been OTJ for longer than she was on insulin - 17 months ON the juice, almost 20 months OFF the juice.

Lucy is still her hilarious self. She has decided that the kitchen is for sleeping and the bedroom is for eating. I washed one of her kitty beds after Jazzy peed on it, and I put it on the kitchen counter (for just a few minutes, right?) while I decided whether to put it back on the floor to be peed on again. In those few minutes, Lucy claimed the bed on the counter and it's still there. It's a good thing I live by myself and don't cook much. When Jazzy first came here, Lucy really didn't like her so I started feeding Lucy in the bedroom. Now that Lucy is sleeping in the kitchen, I thought it would be ok to start feeding in the kitchen again. I guess it is not ok. She will jump down off the counter, walk past the kitchen food dishes, go toward the bedroom, and sit and stare at me because I'm not bringing her food. I'm trying not to give in. We'll see how long I can hold out. But YES, Lucy is jumping. All 16 pounds of her. She can even get on top of my big upright piano by jumping onto the bench first, and she can get onto counters and from the counter to the top of the fridge. She's still obese, but she gets around just fine so far.

For Jazzy, I'm experimenting with using R as a booster to her Lantus. I haven't been testing enough to use it properly since I have been sick, but I'm finding that small amounts can help keep her in nice ranges. I remember Jojo once suggesting that for acro cats it is often safer to keep their basal insulin dose a little on the low side, and cover the higher numbers with R. That way when they rev down you're not caught trying to drain a 13 unit shed on a cat that you can't bring up with low carb food. I think Jazzy is trying to prove her right, because both days this week when I thought I was going to increase her Lantus dose, she threw me a low blue preshot and I couldn't. Jazzy is pretty regulated and is now ready for her new home. If you know anybody who is looking for a Siamese diva acro kitty, send them my way.

Me, I've been sick for several weeks now. Turns out I have hyperthyroidism, which is common in cats but much less common in people. Go figure. I've started a low dose of meds and am seeing a specialist on Monday. I hope I can get back to normal soon so I can spend more time in LL. I miss you guys but I don't have the energy to be here very long at a time. :YMHUG:

Happy Caturday!

but how do we know you're not a cat?

my friend grace has it too. wishing you good luck with that!
yea for lucy and jazzy, and i'm glad you're seeing that with the R. makes perfect sense for an acro not to have to worry as much about the basal insulin in GH downtimes.

Glad both your girls are doing well. I think you described use of R with an acro to a T.

P.S. Glad you have a diagnosis, hope the visit with the specialist goes well.

love the kitty report...and best of luck and recovery with your treatment, libby. remember...caretakers and spirit guides need some coddling, too.

very sorry to hear about personal woes. good luck with your specialist appt.

It is always great to have a Lucy and Jazzy condo. They sound wonderful. It is nice that jazzy is ready for her new home, though I bet it might be tough to let her go. I too am sorry to read that you have been sick - hyperT huh - good luck with the specialist. I hope that goes well. We miss you around here.

Awwwww, such a nice report on the girls. I can just see Jazzy going to the bedroom for her meals. But why not, thats what you taught me mom. Glad to see Lucy getting around just fine. Sara is 14lb and she doesn't do much jumping.

Hope you can get the hypert under control soon. Its know fun not feeling good. Miss you around here Libby.

Have a nice sunday.

Nice report Libby!
Lucy is the sweetest kitty!
You're doing very well with Jazzy, what a lucky foster she is!
Take good care of yourself, and tons of healing vines! :YMHUG:

Hoping you can get back to feeling great again after seeing the specialist Libby...
I am giggling about the bed on the counter top....and the eating in the bedroom. Lucy like room service, eh? Raja likes it too and I give in also. Great number for Lucy and I am so happy to hear that she is jumping on everything and doing so fine! They are really keeping you busy...wishing you all the very best always...(((((Libby))))) :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Congratulations on the 20 months OTJ Lucy :-D

I can't believe Lucy has your house all switched around  that's funny. She has you well trained.
Your (Jojo's) thoughts on the R makes sense to me. Best of luck finding Jazzy a nice furever home.

I hope you get just the right medication and feel all better real soon, Libby. We miss ya.

Libby...I missed out yesterday so am just reading your great post today. First of all...I'm so glad they now know what is wrong and can help you with it. Do they do I131 on people?? We really hope the meds help you and they can find something that will be a permanent fix so you don't have to always do the meds.

What a wonderful bit of news for Lucy!!! She has done so well and we send our congrats to you both. I hope you find the perfect home for Jazzy...you've done so much for her.

Feel better...we miss you but you're health is most important. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
