AMPS 89, 1.50u, 21g Evo 95% C&T

+2 64
+5 78 - 22g Evo 95% C&T, plus 1 tsp. water
+8 95
PMPS 134, 1.50u, 21g Evo 95% C&T

WCR: Blackie didn't show any signs of purring loudly, no vomiting, nothing this morning. I found 2 poos outside the boxes when I woke up. I knew they were from her as they're darker in color than the others' poo. She's eating her regular food with no problems. I gave her 1 tsp. of water with her +1 meal this morning. No problems. She seems to do much better on the mini meals than larger ones. Should've listened to some people mentioning that in the past. Sometimes one doesn't always know better than another, and it's best to take advice She's doing better on her weight, although I think it may have to do with the fact that she needed to pee, and she did a bit ago. Otherwise, she's just over 10 lbs.

At this time, I feel like I DO need to watch her #s since I've removed all the sups from her diet 2 days ago. From that point on, I've noticed her #s going down, and now are anti-jinx, anti-jinx below the 100 mark. I don't ever recall ever seeing this happen to her before. I'm beginning to think that it's to do with the removal of the sups, along with the reduced amount of food, which is now given throughout the day (PS, +1, about +4-+5 along with the others' eating time, PS, +1, and around +3.5 along with the others' snack time which I did last night).

One thing I'm concerned about is that when I start the sub-Q fluids, her #s will drop further...?

No advice on the SubQs, but it's so wonderful to see Blackie is back to her old self. You did a great job with her! Look at those flat greenies! Go, girl, go!!

Blackie is looking great and sounds like things are going good!

I think with SubQs, only time would tell. Some people saw them mess with shed and how fast their kitty absorbed the insulin, with Smokey we didn't see any affect on the BGs with SubQs but we did keep her fluids low at only 50 a day, or it might have been every other day, because we had CHF in play too and couldn't risk overdoing the fluids.

I've followed the convo on SubQs a little, but haven't had time to comment much. SubQs big goal is to hydrate, but they are also to assist in flushing toxins out of the body that the organs are no longer efficient doing on their own. So even if a kitty isn't showing signs of dehydration, SubQs may still have significant benefit to them (you'd just not be looking at a very high dose). As far as getting them to intake the fluids instead of doing SubQs, that will hydrate them, but the SubQs aren't just water, they get electrolytes from the Lactated Ringers. You also want to be really careful that you are not making them feel so full from ingested water, that they are too full to eat enough calories in a day.

Nice greens for Blackie today. Sending more prayers for Blackie.

You might want to put SubQ ? in the subject line to get more eyes.

Re: 10/22 Blackie AMPS 89, +2 64, +5 78

Trix is one of those kitties whose numbers dropped pretty significantly with the fluids. I tried all sorts of different timing, trying to spread the fluids out from shot time as much as possible (given that we had to work in sleeping and going to work at the same time), but ultimately the only thing that helped keep her from dropping like a rock was doing the fluids up by her shoulder, and moving her shot to her flank. She wasn't thrilled about the flank shot, but she got used to it...although it wasn't much after that that she went into her own crazy version of OTJ. Anyway, she needed the fluids and insulin to be far apart on her body to keep her from dropping.

I hope Blackie continues to feel better and better!!

Oh, Blackie, it's nice to see that your eating well and getting some good poo in (or out) during the day. Angela, you're doing a fantastic job with her.

Can't speak for the fluids. Polly got them occasionally early in this dance. But her numbers were so goofy that I couldn't tell if they had any impact. I did try shooting in the flank and fluiding in the scruff area. And, then, thank goodness she didn't need fluids anymore. I was a total mess trying to find a flank spot for insulin...plus she would pull away when I tried to tent skin in her flank.

Keeping the vines flowing for you and Blackie.

Continuing to send lots of healing wishes and hugs to you and Blackie, Angela. It's so good to see that she's eating again and feeling better. You must be so relieved; but I know you're watchful so I hope you can also get some good rest.

Angela, I'm glad Blackie is eating. Small amounts often us exactly what my vet said to do as they feel yucky if they eat too much during episodes. If she continues to eat well she might not need the fluids.

I sent the ondansetron snd some gel caps to you today.
