Good Morning LL! Well, Tess is doing it again. Sometimes Tess has a tendency to start to clear a bounce and thengo back up again for a day. That's all it is , right Tess? nailbite_smile :?  We know you will come back down, if not ……………

It's another food success w/ the Merrick Before Grains Beef. :thumbup Question has anyone ever used Renafood as a supplement?

WCR All 5 Ps, Clean Plate Club, Tess was racing back and forth from the kitchen to the living room like a wild kitty, last night and again this morning. :-D Purring during brushing in progress.

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 +4~419

my response to ann's PM about Renafood...

Personally, I wouldn't use it because of the amount of Vitamin A. Tanya's site has this to say:

The reasoning behind these products is that giving kidney glandulars (extracted from cows' kidneys) strengthens the cat's own kidneys. Renatrophin is pure kidney extract, while the other two products contain other ingredients. The process by which these extracts (known as protomorphogen or PMG extracts) are obtained is patented by Standard Process.

I remain sceptical about these products, and am concerned to note that the products contain some or all of phosphorus, calcium and Vitamin A, which can be a problem for CRF cats. They also contain flax seed oil, and alfafa, which is not ideal for cats. Renatrophin contains magnesium citrate, so should be given apart from phosphorus binders containing aluminium. Some Tanya's CRF Support Group members like these products. Personally, though, I'd save my money.

i would suggest suggest talking to your vet and joining Tanya's CRF Support Group to ask their members what they think about this product before using.

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 +4~419

Thanks Jill, I wasn't going to use it without talking to my vet. Just looking for references.

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 +4~419

No advice here. I have never heard of it.

Come on down Tess! Wrong way sweet girl. Hope you have a great night!

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 +4~419

I don't know if it's the lev or the cat but Gracie does this sometimes, too. Odd isn't it.....breaking a bounce and then not.

Glad Jill gave you some info on the Renacare. I had not read that yet on the website. I will say that my NRT vet wanted to use some of the Standard Process renal stuff for cats with Teddi and I refused due to the Vit A, Vit C.

Hope you are all having a great day. I'm looking for a good place to nap :-D :-D

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 +4~419 +8~316

I'm not sure, but I think Tess is saving up her shed so she can come down to green early tomorrow, as we head for Santa Barbara    .
Marje, thanks for your info about the renal stuff. I think we can take care of it with just diet for now. We just have to watch her numbers closely. Ann is at hte studio unloading the kiln. I think Tess wants to surprise us tomorrow. ~ John

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 PMPS~357

Tess - time to come down, Mannie is no longer on the pink floor... so look for him on the yellow one, he could use some company! Maybe together you two could find the blue floor...

have a great day guys, and I hoe Tess behaves for you tomorrow morning. Hear that Tess? be a good kitty!

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 PMPS~357

Hi Ann, John, Tess,

Looks like you got good advice from Jill about that supplement. It does sound a bit dangerous.
I guess you are right about Tess getting her shed ready for tomorrow!! Have you entirely stopped taking her with you to Santa Barbara?
Have a safe drive tomorrow and a good weekend. Tess, let's have some nice middle-of-the-road numbers, OK?

Ella & Rusty

Re: 10/21 Tess AMPS~323 PMPS~357

Down you go, Miss Tess!!! Pink is not a pretty color for you!! Interesting discussion on the Renafood... We briefly used it for Willie, but he wouldn't touch the stuff, so we stopped. The other SP supplements we used we also had to stop as their purpose was to increase his immune system response, which is the worst thing that can happen to a cat with pemphigus. So, no more SP for us!!

Safe travels to SB tomorrow! Hopefully Tess flashes you a nice low yellow/high blue tomorrow morning!
