10/21 Dallas spot check 274, NS :(

[Dallas boy]

I went about a week without testing him and today he's at 274. He has an ear infection which is being treated right now. Today he'll get his last dose. His ear meds does not have steroids in it and it never kicked him out of remission before. He has chronic ear infections and has one every 3-4 months.

His dental surgery is this Wednesday.

What do I do?

Infections can raise BG. Have the meds helped with the infection? His dental is coming up soon, right?

The ear drops always clears up the ear infection and yesterday he got his last dose. They’re going to do his ear recheck during his dental which is this coming Wednesday.

should I wait before starting him back on insulin?

See if his BG comes down in the next couple of days with the ear infection being treated. His numbers could be high for a few days after the dental if there are extractions, so you could start insulin if his numbers stay at this level.
