Tonight’s shot was a little skinny- may have lost a drop during injection b/c he moved. And then afterward he bathed himself completely in that spot so made me wonder how much I lost, but I didn’t think it was much b/c he still had over 2u left after he moved and I think that went in well.

He had been doing really well last few days.

Your suggestion of warming the syringe may have been the biggest factor, actually but also trying not to inject tough skin that may be scar tissue, and singing/distracting, brushing beforehand and offering tasty food during the shot all help. From what I have read, cold Lantus can sting, so may not be the Lantus itself (for him), so just have to keep warming it up and I think we can stick with it.

So glad to hear it's going well. Such a relief for you. :bighug: And his numbers are looking so good on this dose! :cool::D
 
I just got 3 errors in a row. I panicked and gave him some HC. I tested on a different meter and got the same error. I was worried he was too low to register but E20 supposedly means testing error or expired strips. Everything was fine until now with that bottle. Will try a new bottle in a bit.

Different meter with the same strips? It's good he's patient with the testing part of FD!
Did you manage to get a test?

Ok, thank you. I may test sooner because I’m a worrier. I guess I won’t really know how low he went. Is this a good dose to stay at when it takes so much work to keep him from dropping?

Yeah, he might just be done with this dose and it's possible he could have dropped below 50 without the HC. But there are also times when you need to use a little carbs to keep them at a good dose.

Let's see what he does later in the cycle and tomorrow? There are instances when a cat keeps going up the dosing ladder and hits a breakthrough dose and wants to back down in dosing as fast.

that makes sense. If the swings weren’t so wild I’d have an easier time with it.

he is at 79 at +8
