Nice start for Trix today. Still grappling about what to do with the NV Instinct, what with the funky clay issue in it. She does love it, and does well on it...do I want to rock the boat yet again? We do have a number of cans, but I'm sure we could exchange them...ugh.

I had a weird allergic reaction to her sweet kitty kisses yesterday. She licks my arms all the time, with no problem. But at one point yesterday, I was kneeling on the floor in front of the computer to check e-mail. I was kneeling because she was sleeping on the office chair. She woke up, put her paws on my shoulder, and started licking my cheek and chin! It was so darned cute...until an hour later, when my chin puffed up as if I'd been socked!! It's almost completely gone now, but I never expected that. Kinda freaked me out for a bit! I guess no more kitty kisses on the face....

Hi Amy, you read my mind, as I was thinking exactly the same thing and was going to write you the exact words. I have about 24 cans of it, and Maggie really loves it. It's just been so hard finding something she likes and that is agreeable with the carbs and phosphorus. What to do! :(

It is tough, Ann, it is tough....I'm trying to keep everything in perspective. This clay ingredient is an odd one....but, what about the random ingredients in other foods, too? Unless we make our own cat food, which I know I can't do (I personally don't eat meat and know I couldn't handle touching it), we have to put at least a little faith in some cat food companies...what a conundrum!

Hi Amy, yes you're right and it makes a lot of sense. There are things in some of the other brands that are questionable. I like your perspective. For today she will be eating NV, as all I have in her kitchen are FF, Friskies, Merrick, and I'm sure others.

I love this! Whatever it takes not to disrupt our lovely sleeping babies :-D And lovely numbers as usual for Ms. Trix.

Hi guys .. lovely start for trixie today .. I don't know how many times we have kneeled in front of the 'puter because of sleeping kitties :lol: That is a pretty weird reaction to kitty kisses on your face, but better safe then sorry and pass on them from now on .. have a great day!

Yep, kitty comfort always trumps human comfort. When I die, I want to come back as one of my cats :lol: !

I laughed out loud when I read that you were checking e-mails on the floor because of Trixie on the chair. We have all done things like that but I'm sure others without cats think we're nuts! They just don't understand.

Strange about the swelling on your face when it doesn't bother you on your arm.

I missed the discussion on the NV. I bought Simon some cans and he liked it alot. So there is clay in the food? Kind of strange. I also bought him some Merricks before grain food and he really seems to like it and his bg has been fairly good on it. I'm going to buy some more today but not too many because tomorrow he may hate it.

Georgia - check out yesterday's condos for Trixie, Maggie, and Rusty....that's where the NV clay discussion stuff is.

Trix's BGs are great on BG, but she doesn't love it...I usually mix it with another food and then she'll happily eat it.

Trixie is looking really good so far today!!! I'm going to order some TCFeline today (the trial pack) and make that up for Champ and see how he likes it. I wish you lived closer. I wouldn't mind mixing up food for Trix along with Champ's. Unfortunately, mailing it express from Las Vegas to New Jersey might be mind-blowingly expensive!! :lol: Do you maybe have a friend who would do it for you? You could buy all the ingredients and all she would have to do is cut the meat up. I'm going to do what Ann (Tess) has done....chunk up the meat instead of grinding it. It will take less time, especially if I do it while it's partially frozen. I don't think it should take more than an hour to cut up enough chicken to make a month's worth of food and mix it up. I don't know how much of an aversion you would have to portioning it out into bags (or plastic containers) yourself, but that would take up the most time I image...having to weigh it and package it. Too bad kitties can't be vegan too!!!

I wish the kitties could be vegan, too...it would be so much easier for all of us! (I do know some people who foolishly tried to make their cats vegan...'nuther story, 'nuther day, but needless to say it didn't turn out well.)

My mom might be willing to prep cat food for me, but her plate is so full that I'd hate to ask her to do it. I appreciate your offer but yeah - I can only imagine how costly it would be to ship raw cat food cross country :lol: !

At least I know what's best for my kitties, and I'm OK with opening cans of food, as long as I kind of hold my breath and sort of look the other way....

OH NO :o allergic to kitty smooches?!?! Awww poor Amy, I guess it will be ok as long as you aren't allergic to kitty cuddles.

Sorry about the NV food with that M-clay, but once I saw that list I knew I couldn't let it go without saying anything. Thorium, which is one of the chemicals in the clay from Ann's list yesterday is only found as a radioactive element......why would anyone want to put that in your body? Cesium and strontium can be radioactive as well, but I wouldn't know for sure unless I saw the actual chemical properties and structure.

Isn't it amazing what a bean will do for their kitty? I don't know how they end up with more space in the bed than their beans, but it is a regular occurrence at our house.
What a bummer to find you are allergic to kitty kisses! :o

Fortunately, I only seem to be allergic to Trixie-kisses on my face. She licks my arm and hands all the time with no issue. Ironically, out of all 6 cats, she's also the only one my husband reacts to, as well. I guess she's got some funky spit action going on :lol: !

As for the food...argh!!! I am so ripping my hair out. Can't even thing about it tonight...got another kitty bug running around amongst the herd. One thing at a time...
 
i've had the same thing happen with punkin kisses - no problem on my arms or hands, but if he gets my neck or cheek it makes me itchy and rashy. no idea why, but i have wondered if it's a friction issue as much as anything. the skin on your arm is a lot tougher than the skin on your cheek.

sad face on the bug running through your kitty troupe! that's yucky!

one of my friends said the same thing "when i come back i want to be a cat in your house!" :lol:
