Yesterday
Morning. Shadow has 3 Ps so far today. He ate his FF turkey and Giblets mixed with beechnut turkey baby food and freeze-driee chicken on top. He went back to finish it up so that was a good sign. he is wandering around and acting normal with no more vomiting epidodes.
The vet finally called me yesterday evening after I had stopped in to the office for more Bupe and Royal Canin Recovery.....I bought two cans of that just in case and they gave me 0.3 mgs in 4 syringes for pain...in case we need it. When she called, we had a nice long talk on the phone. We will be trying the clavamox again and if there is vomiting, we will discontinue for a bit. We talked about some nutrients for both my kitties and I am going there before they close at noon to pick some stuff up....

She said I could give him 1/4 tab of Pepcid each day for about a week. She had been kept up-to-date by the other vet while she was away and it seemed she was gathering the information she wanted to discuss with me so it's not as if she was ...ooop./..I hear him vomiting....be back later....darn... poor Shadow....

There were a few little hairballs in the vomit....along with some food. I called vet and instead of me bringing him over there, I went over myself. I got some Carafate tablets to coat his stomach.
Byt the time I got back, he had vomited the Pepcid with fluid and then I gave him the new
Carafate. He managed to keep down the snack at noon. But just now, he turned away from food. I had to syringe and assortment of things into him and I am hoping that he will eat a little on his own now.
Unfortuantely, I am supposed to be going to a wedding in 15 minutes.
You KNOW that the last thing i want to do is leave the house.
He was supposed to have Mirtz today but I will wait until a little later I think.
So sad about this vomiting. He is hanging out in the living room with me....being such a good boy....

Awww Pat, I'm sorry Shadow is feeling so pukey.
Sorry also, that you had to go out, when you just wanted to stay home and love on your baby boy. cat_pet_icon

(((Pat))) I'm so sorry that you and Shadow are having a hard time. If he has nausea he won't want to eat and may develop an aversion to the foods you are trying to feed him. I believe that Mirtz is an appetite stimulant and you probably don't want to stimulate his appetite if he is just going to get nauseous. For nausea everyone here seems to agree that ondonsetron (Zofran) is effective. See what your vet says.

Too bad about the wedding. I wouldn't want to go, either! Perhaps you managed to stay home.

Thinking of you, Shadow, and Raja, and sending lots of healing vines to our Shad-0. I hope he (and you!) will have a good night.

Hugs to you all,

Ella & Rusty

Pat --

The Pepsid may not do the trick for vomiting and nausea. Either ondansatron (Zofram) or maropitant (Cernia) are far better than Pepsid for nausea/vomiting. You also don't want to give an appetite stimulant if Shadow is nauseous. Think about if you were nauseous and took an appetite stimulant -- not a good feeling.

He has had two shots of Cerenia (Maropitant) this week and that's what I had asked for today but they gave me the Carafate. We upped the Pepcid to twice each day. He has not vomited since this morning and has kept the food down so far. Just gave him another Pepcid and will see if he eats in an hour or so.
We were home from the wedding in time for the PMPS....guess we were only gone 2.5 hours. Our neighbors in the building had a beach wedding....so it was ood that we could make an appearance but then come home right away...we don't know them very well so it all worked out okay in the end.

I will ask about the nausea meds if the vomiting doesm't stop. Seems it's happened every other day. And most pukeys have had hair balls. I am hoping he will be finished with that soon. And also hoping that the Carafate has coated his stomach...it seems to have given him some relief. Thank you all for stopping by and for your support! I appreciate it so much! :YMHUG:
