Morning LL! Nice sunny day & Moonie is sleeping in the sun...
Looks like the new dose is holding so far(probably shed leftover) but we'll see :shock:
Started a New Pen today, last one last 44 days!!! Love the Solostar Pens for lantus
Updated my ss to Sept & hope to do some more today--My bad!!!

Want some advice--Need to leave DH to do a shot, as I work at a church fair on a friday night--
Could I draw a shot in the syringe and leave it for an hour in the fridge so DH could shoot her??
I know we arent supposed to draw syringe & leave with lantus, but why is that??
Contamination by the interior of the syringe??
Oh well, I can dream cant I??
Hope everyone Has a great Fursday--I have TBP later, just a couple of months left till they close...
Will be reading in a little Italian restaurant few blocks from here possibly on every other tuesday night..
& have another place I do once a month--Will be reading at home also &

Hi guys .. lovely start to the day ... wow, 44 days on one pen? We never got more then 25-28 day's with mocha .. No advice on the drawing of insulin an hour early but I am sure someone on here knows why that is a no no :-D .. Have a great day!

Moonie dropped 103 pts in 3.5 hrs--Looks like the dose is working :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
Fed her tbs of ff chicken LC & like 4 temptations(tiny ones) to keep her surfing--Dont want no more 30's please!!
She was playing with an MJ toy she loves -Playing was an exercise she left behind till this year--So happy to see this!
Will test at +4, she will be coming into her nadir about then, so we'll see...

Moonie surfs at 65!!! Just gave her 10 tiny temptations to start her up as this should be her nadir now-+5.5 Didnt want to feed HC & send her to the moon...
She played with her tail for a minute today, something she hasnt done in a long long time!!
She must feel good!!!
Only thing is she coughs like she has a hairball once at nite about 9pm & today in the am after she had cleaned herself- So once at nite & once in the am she coughs I am watching her-She grooms a Lot since Copper is gone, but I rarely see any hairballs! I think she overgrooms but what do I know??
Heart is good, she was checked a couple mths ago..Hope it is just from over grooming..Input?

Moonie has some ideas about this dose, whether really liking it or getting tired of it I'm not sure. Have a peaceful day watching for hairballs. :lol:

If you want some help w/ the SS call me, I'm home all day.

Roni - 'retired' only means you get to 'get tired' all over again doing something else.... :-D ...at least that's what MY 'retired' has meant...

Moonie came up nicely with those little temptations--Didnt want her to shoot up with the ff elegant medleys..I need to find an MC food she will eat( the little bratty picky food eater!!)--Will go thru the Binky's food lists later to maybe find a MC that she will like--she's a hard nose with food!

Hi Roni, beautiful cycle for Moonie today. I think the dose is working. I use FF Turkey & Giblets as a mc for Maggie. Some others here also say it does cause a spike in the bg, so you might give it a try when you're home to test it! That's great that you are finding so much work and are in demand. I know you must get tired. On the syringe, sometimes I make mine ahead 20 minutes. I have the vial! I hope someone comes long with an answer for you on the hour in the frig. Missy is starting to respond to her dose increase and actually did a little playing this morning, as well......the little things that mean so much!

Hi Roni & Moonie,
What a great surf today, Moonie! That new pen packs some punch! I have always heard that we do not pre-fill syringes because the lubricant in the syringe will seep into the insulin if it sits too long. I think it would be better to see if DH can draw a dose himself. Edward couldn't do it because of his vision, but maybe Brad can. Moonie's dose is 0.5 u, right? That should be an easy one to line up with the line on the syringe.

It is so great that Moonie is playing again, and chasing her tail. She must be feeling so good!
Enjoy the evening. We have discovered that we are much busier in "retirement" than ever before!! It's great that you have lined up new places to work in.

My, what a beautiful cycle for Miss Moonie today! As for your pre-fill question, I know I read somewhere not to do so as once the insulin is in the syringe for more than 10 minutes or so, it begins to degrade fairly rapidly. I found this from a British Royal Nursing College article: "Sanofi Aventis cannot recommend the storage of Lantus in syringes because it becomes turbid [cloudy]." Here's a link to another study addressing the issue. I did see on a children's diabetes board that many people had done it for their kids and didn't have any wonky numbers to suggest that it was a problem. I think as an absolute last resort, it would be better than nothing?

Moonie, what a great cycle! Nice of you not to go so low as to give your bean a thrill. That tail is a bunch of fun. :lol: I don't know about prefilling the syringe either. Maybe DH can watch Julie's video? It sure helped us.
