Re: 10/20 Michael amps 173
Hi Paula,
How's Michael feeling this morning? That's a nice AMPS. Maybe a visit to the lagoon later?
I just read your yesterday's post and want to second what Julie, Wendy, and Sienne said in their replies. Don't despair! Try to be consistent in your feeding. He'll eat what he wants, and it's best if he has too much food left out for him, rather than too little. Sienne's advice on the gauge of the lancet is good to keep in mind. In the winter, when it is cool in our house, I use 30 gauge lancets; in the summer, 33 gauge (very thin). Do you use a lancet device, or do you free-hand? I've tried both methods over the years and always come back to the lancet device because I think it delivers a much faster poke than I can do free hand, and therefore is less painful. Try to keep the bevel side of the lancet up, just as you do with the bevel of the syringe. This makes the entry less painful. It is easy to load the lancet into the lancet device so that the bevel is up. Just look carefully at the lancet and orient it before you load it into the device; then keep that orientation when you hold the device to Michael's ear. Treats are important after each test! Neosporin, especially at bedtime, is a must.
I hope you both have a good day today.
