His numbers are running awfully high. Only change is dry food but it's supposed to be 0 carb. I increased to 2.5 yesterday PM. Is there anything I should be doing. I'm just worried to death .

This is a game of patience, patience, patience. You waited for quite a long time to increase...and he's got a lot of sugar in his bloodstream. It's going to take some time for the Lantus to work - as you may know from your reading, Lantus is a hormone. It is not a drug. It's not like taking an aspirin and having immediate relief from a headache. It doesn't work that way. It takes time to build up in his system and then it will help to get those sugars where they need to be. However, in the meantime, you will want to test occasionally just to make sure where his numbers are...and you may have to increase in a few days. We'll find a good dose for Blackie...it just takes time.

Would you mind putting at the top of your SS a row about your schedule - the days you work or can test more frequently? Also, please copy and paste your last condo's url into the top of your condo for today - it'll help everyone see the history of how you've come to this point today.

Hang in there Sarah...we'll get him to feeling better soon...and then you'll both feel better :)

I don't know how to transfer prior quote on iPhone. Does anybody know how to do that. I'll update SS with my schedule. I don't mean to be whining, I just feel helpless in helping him.

Try not to get discouraged. Sometimes you'll see a little bit of lower numbers and then need to go up. It's all part of finding a good dose for Blackie. It just takes time. Also remember sometimes you can get NDW from a dose increase where the numbers go higher right away and then they come back down. How is Blackie feeling? Remember he is more than his numbers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

It's ok to whine...we've all been there... :)

@AmandaE - do you know how to do anything on the IPhone? I only use my laptop, so I'm not sure how to do a copy/paste on the phone...seems like there must be something in there that would allow you to do that...Amanda is pretty tech savy...let's see if she can help.

Go to your previous thread, copy the URL at the top of the browser, and then paste it in your new thread!
Same as with a laptop. To copy, you just tap a little longer until you see the "copy" option appear.

I don't have any other suggestions for you Sherry, except to echo Sue. It's definitely a journey of patience for Blackie's body to begin to adjust to insulin and the dosages. I am sorry that this is so distressing for you to see those darned high numbers, but honestly, I would rather see that than extremely low numbers and worried about a hypo. So, right now it's the other end of the spectrum, but I do believe that's going to change. Hang in there, and we all are right here with you, you have such love for that little charming black puddy, and you are going to see him through this. The rest of us beans are going to see YOU through this too.

Try to find something enjoyable to do today, get out and breathe a little fresh air if it's not too cold or icky, even if it's just out onto the porch for a few minutes. :bighug::)

Thank you !!!!

Just for the sake of understanding, is the dry food that which is in your signature? If it is, I do t k ow the carb count and hope someone that does weighs in.

Is he getting any LC wet food at all?

It looks like you work outside the home. Getting as many PM test as you can will help to fill in the SS some and shed some light. Try and ALWAYS get a test in before you go to bed to see if you need to get anymore test in. A lot of kitties go lower at night time so he could be doing that and then bouncing up higher in the AM.

Good luck with the recent increase. This will be the 3rd cycle with the increase. After tomorrow Am cycle , the depot should be full and we’ll see what the dose can do .

Hang in there and keep posting for help.

Hi Sherry!

Sorry you’re feeling discouraged. It is honestly just so much in the beginning, I know it’s hard to believe right now but it gets easier as you learn, and as you become familiar with Blackie’s Patterns. You just increased yesterday so you will have to wait a couple of days before you see action from the new dose. I find for Mowgli it can take up to 8 cycles

I usually post from my iPhone, it can be a bit tricky sometimes but it can all be done. Also keep in mind that I’ve kind of taught myself so I might take the long way round to do something. At almost all times I keep two tabs open in my browser that both have the FDMB Forum open.

To quote someone from a previous day’s post what I usually do is:
  1. In one browser tab Open the post from the previous day, press reply to the person You wanted to quote,
  2. Copy the text in the reply box (if you quickly tap the text you will get an option to select all, and then you can tap the selected section and choose copy)
  3. Open another browser tab with your current days post
  4. Paste the text that you copied from the previous days post
  5. Delete any text that you didn’t want to keep in the quote
  6. Reply below the last occurrence of the ‘[\QUOTE]’ commands
If you wanted to put a link to your previous post Within a string of text that is not too hard either. All you have to do is :
  1. Copy the web address of your post from the previous day
  2. In your post for today write what you would like it to say, for me I put yesterday’s date, some people just write ‘yesterday’
  3. Highlight the text that you want to hide the link in
  4. Click on the insert hyperlink button as shown below
    upload_2019-10-20_19-31-9.png
  5. Paste yesterday’s posts web address in the form that comes up
  6. Click ok
you’ll know it worked if the text turns blue. :)

If you need more specific instructions let me know! Or definitely send me a private message if you have more questions on how to do things! I will help if I can!

Oh! And the most important part about quoting members is to make sure that you include the first part of the quote command and the last part of the quote command as below

He was almost switched to FF Pate's and then he just quit eating. I tried warm water , different flavors, forti flora. So I freaked out and got the dry. After being educated on the importance of wet I'm trying half and half. That seemed to work today. I'll test before bed as well. Thanks so much ! This has been a challenge and being a very independent woman it has humbled me to reach out and so very gratefully accept help.
