Hi all! What a nice evening last night for Mannie - a bit tiring (well mostly for his bean), but nice none-the-less. Mannie had a terrific :mrgreen: surf through most of the night, ended up surfing blues for the remainder. Good job big guy! cat_pet_icon This morning we are thankful for a 163 at amps. YAY! Mannie, just what do we have planned for today?

Things are good this morning - tons of purrs during testing, feeding, shooting, and just trying to wake up. :-D He is so patient through it all. I did have to laugh a little last night towards the end of our mini poke-fest: down to one of the last, got him on my lap, and he let out the biggest sigh: the equivalent of "enough already". Yeah - it was getting close to that. :lol: Today breffis #1, and #2 consumed - he wanted more, thought he'd raid the others bowls - too late: no crumbs left there. He slobbered all over the nanners instead. We are now napping, waiting for first light so that the exterior can be patrolled, and secured.

Have a great Caturday - everyone! Many healing vines for all our ailing kitties.

236 @ +2 -- we are either bouncing from last night, or - food spike. Guess we shall see how the day pans out.

Mannie is happy - the sun is finally making an appearance, well more like the clouds are finally making an appearance - soon the door will open, out he can go for security patrol. I think I shall head on out for a short walk, maybe visit the coffee shop. I could use a round of the really good stuff.... ~O) cheers all!

What a good boy Mannie is. He need to teach my Curry how to be a little more relaxed.

Shucks, this time I missed the excitement,In a fog and getting ready or class. Looks like both of them are bouncing yellow.

Tess would love to have Mannie come down for some dunes sliding. All the kitties are invited.

Gotta go, try to visit more condos tonight.

GOOD MORNING MICHELLE AND MANNIE!!! Does that help wake you up? Great night last night...I followed you until we pooped out.

Question for you since you have the king of divers there....I notice that if you get a big drop for Mannie between his AMPS/PMPS and his, say +2 and the number is around 100, then you give him some HC to slow the drop. I was wondering if I should try that with Grace instead of giving her LC and then her continuing to drop LOW and then having to frantically urge her back up with HC. I always thought that if I give her HC when she's at or around 100, early in cycle +2) but dropping, that I might ruin the surf. Instead, looks like I let her drop too much too fast and then I ruin it by giving her too much HC when she's really low. I like what you're doing and wonder if it will work with Grace...guess I won't know unless I try. But the logic is that if she dropped alot between AMPS and +2 and her nadir is +5, she's going to continue to drop between those two unless I way overdo it. Think I should try it??? ;-)

I hope Mannie is enjoying some sunshine this morning. He sure did have a nice green surf last night. I heard a rumor that Mannie doesn't have a tail. Is that true? You can't tell from his picture. :-D I hope you have a wonderful day.

Hi Marjorie! and yes - that was loud enough :lol: :lol: and I am awake now. And thanks for following us - it was a longgggg night. gee - thanks Mannie! :mrgreen: That and a nice am walk did the trick.

In answer to your question: Yes - when dealing with a ps, and the +1, +2. If Mannie's amps/pmps # is anywhere near 130 or less (sometimes I even look at the 150's), I will automatically get a +1. Mannie is a diver if not food controlled at the onset of a cycle. so --- if his +1 is any less than the ps# (taking into account that the +1 by nature of a lantus cycle should be higher than ps) I will normally crab for the HC. This is also true for the +2 if the number is a significant drop - like say 40 points. I have found that with him that HC will slow a declining number into an acceptable range. For instance last night: pmps was 174, by +2 he was at 121, a 50+ drop - so I gave him HC, to slow it down. +2.5 was at 87, so I switched to LC, hoping that i could keep him in this number range. For me an 87 at this point in the cycle was good. Next test was an 80, So I elected to keep him on LC as it was keeping him green, whiles still allowing for the cycle to progress normally, with some dropping in numbers without being too low. This I did through the next few tests until nadir. If his +2.5 had been lower than 80 like say 60 I would have given him 8%, maybe10% to again slow the drop but not bounce him up too far. I was aiming for the 70 range, and a surf to follow. Alot of what I did last night was "seeing how he will react" based on what I know from previous cycles: successes and errors. For me giving HC early on in the cycle is not a bad thing - I know I won't have Mannie at a very low unsafe number early in the cycle, that I can slow things down, establish a great surf early on, and not end up scrambling from +2 through nadir (which has happened to me - not fun :-D ) So yes - give it a shot. overtime you'll learn how she responds. For me it is just better to control things from the get go. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. So be prepared for those days when Gracie has a mind of her own. :-D Good luck!

Hi Ele! Yes - it is true - Mannie is a tailless wonder. :-D He really has what one cold call a stub - he's supposed to be a manx, but I'm not thoroughly convinced. What he has is a corkscrew thing down there - It would be maybe 4" long if it was straight. Makes me laugh: he's such a long hair that with all that fur, and that corkscrew it looks like pom pom - especially when he tries to wag what is there. Here's a pic of him with his nanner - maybe you can see from that:

Hey Ann - in the fog too - what a longggggggg one last night. thank somebody for ~O) bouncy yellow for our fur babies today - though I haven't poked him since his +2. somehow a yellow surf would be OK for today.

Thank you so much...this is perfect..just what I needed so I can at least try. I think I shot a little skinny this morning and Gracie has slowed down more than I wanted.. as I was hoping I could get her to surf low blue or high green today with no diving. It's so hard to judge but one of the other LL'ers sent me a great closeup of what .75 u should look like on the syringe so now we're practicing. Unfortunately, the little black end piece on the plunger is not uniformly thick so it looks different on one side than the other. Hope you all have a great day and thanks for checking in with us today.

Hi Marjorie - glad "all that" helped. And I hear you on the syringes. I keep hoping that someone out there would make them for us with kitties that need such fine line micro dosing. Sure would be easier. I struggle so the the .25's. And I saw that photo - very helpful... !!

109 @ +6.5 -- nice blue surf maybe. not to sure that this shows a nadir shift. not really, just more like he's at where he wants to surf today. GO MANNIE!

Hmmm, what the heck color is Mannie anyway? Kinda looks like a black smoke, but he's got visible tabby markings on his face. What a fabulous freak of nature :cool:

Hi MJ - yeah - a fabulous freak of nature - well put! :-D He's a shelter cat, and when we went to adopt that day, it was an instant attraction. we loved him, and he us. He's a long hair tabby, a gray/black one - however predominately black on his back, predominately light gray on the belly, and everything in between is tabby. I really need to get a better photo of him for his avatar. One of those cats whose photos just don't show what he truly looks like.

138 @ +9 - blue surf, up a little at +9, normal for him.

Mannie, thanks for showing me how to test myself. Dad was so impressed when he got home! But he scooped me up and took me with him anyway, in the CAR!!! grumpy_cat And then I saw mom and she let me walk around outside, but on a leash. :roll: Then the car again, then home. I was so happy to get home. I hope you still had fun on the dunes even though I had to leave. I promise I won't go with him next time. cat(2)_steam -- Tess

it has been a great day for him - it may be all blue, but I will take it. i remember too well the days when I was elated to have no red for the day. things eventually do come around.

Here's a funny story: At first, DH was "wow..you've been spending alot of time on the computer with this stuff"; then I showed him how to do it; then he started looking at the posts; now after I post and go back to sit down with him, he says "How's Mannie, how's Binks, how's Tess, what's Moonie doing, is Muffin better?" And I mean..he's asking sincerely! Last night I came in the office and he was at the computer and I asked him what he was looking at and he said "I'm checking to see if Binks' numbers have come down and if Mannie is surfing". :lol: :lol: :lol: So now I know when he goes back to flying, I'll have to constantly text him with everyone's updates!
 
Marjorie: That is just so cool! It is fun to watch how we all become so involved with everyone's kitties - it's a real sense of community. Very very nice, and go DH! I hope you are good a texting. :-D I love it!

83 @ +6... looks like we have a surf. I have given him a little, maybe 1/2 tsp, LC, just to maintain the surf. We should be at nadir... so NI NI for me. DH will give his +8/9 snack
