Switched to Relion Platinum meter so I don't go broke buying AlphaTrak strips every week and a half. We did excellent with his shot this morning, he's learning to sit still getting his side shots with the help of Churu and doing it in the small bathroom rather than out where he can walk away easily, and he let me slowly make sure I got the full shot in.
Also started doing blood testing for ketones (was using pee strips, but he doesn't always go at consistent times or when I'm around so couldn't always get a test). Was surprised with a 4.0 mmol/L reading after a control test. He was very alert and active (chasing his brother around) and his thirst/urination wasn't out of control, water intake was sliiightly increased, but not like it was when he was in DKA, so ER vet said he wasn't too concerned as long as his symptoms didn't change. Stressful evening.
Edit: tested ketones when I got home and we're down to 1.1; not ideal, but much better.
