Well our ss is totally up to date - link at bottom. I'm afraid I don't have his numbers from the hospital stay but I do know he was most often in the high 100's to 300 range. And he usually got 0.5u except for that one 1 unit dose. I have kept him on 0.5u until this AM as we have been running higher even at home and hitting 300 more. So this AM I went to 0.75u. Believe you/me - I will be testing alllllll day! He is eating only fairly even with getting another mirtazapine dose! :( He seems to "startle" so easily. I don't know if that is from the stay in the busy ICU or what. He usually likes to be amidst all the activity in the house but now he loves being in the room my mom used to have where it is quieter. He is alert tho and loves to cuddle. We keep at him to eat at least every 2 hours. Yesterday we got in 1/2 can of AD, 1/2 can FF, some tuna fish and some bites of other food. I know it's not enough and I feel that Monday I'll hear more about a feeding tube

Some bright news tho - for the first time in more than a week - we saw some of his normal behavior - where he looks up at you and offers his paw to you to be petted or held. I was soooo happy. I'll take all the happy things I can get. AND too - Fiona continues to do well and if she didn't have such a bad haircut ;-) - you'd never know she was even sick!

Hi Patti,
I'm glad that Boris is showing some of his old self. Keep on doing what you're doing. He's a brave kitty and he'll respond. Sending both your kitties some beautiful healing vines and good thoughts for Boris's vet visit tomorrow.

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

Sending both Boris and Fiona some healing vines and positive thoughts. That's very good news with Boris offering his paw to show he wants more petting.

That's a wonderful Boris and Fiona report. With Boris startling so easily right now it's because that he was in the hospital for a length of time that he'll be on edge for abit. Jr. Mint (one of Blackie's sons) was like that, too, when he returned from the vet's. The same goes with Blackie. Boris will settle down over time, and he'll remember the normal household routines. Just allow him to get into a quiet room for a bit, until he settles down. Just remember, it'll take time. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

That's a good update on Boris and Fiona. I am glad that he is starting to feel a bit more like his old self. I will hope that his appetite continues to perk up a bit more.

Patti --

I'm glad Boris is starting to feel better.

I don't know how carb sensitive Boris is but A/D is 13% carb. His numbers may be up both from the food and from the pred.

The mirtazepine may be what's causing Boris to want to be less "stimulated" by what's going on.

Oh Patti - I'm just catching up after being gone past week. . .

Boy, sometimes when it rains it pours. . .

Sending tons of healing vines for both Boris and Fiona. . .
((((((((Patti))))))))

I'm glad to hear Boris is starting to come around! And sweet Fiona, don't worry, it'll grow out. That's what I tell myself every time I get a bad haircut!

Great report, Patti. I'm glad Boris is stable.....will send prayers and healing vines that he eats more soon.

Also sending many prayers for Fiona tomnorrow......and you. Please keep us posted.

I did join the Yahoo Lymphoma group last week but was still waiting on the "ok" from the moderator when Teddi crossed. However, the note I got from the moderator was extremely warm and welcoming....she referred to it as being a family. I emailed her and let her know what happened and she sent me a very sweet email. They seem really knowledgeable and there is alot of info on their site.

Good luck.....keeping you all in our prayers and thoughts.
