Yesterday's condo.

I think Angie likes her new dose. This is the lowest pre-shot figure we've had yet - it's the second cycle on it so I'm hoping to see blue pre-shots as her depot increases. She was in good form this morning - very active and brushing my hair with her paw to get me up for breakfast. She's now snoring while I'm bleary eyed and staying awake for her morning tests. :?

Hugs and vines to all the sick kitties and beans. I'll visit condos later on. We have guest staying at the moment.

Re: 10/2 Angie amps=223 +3=238 +6=229 +9.5=317

Angie just went into STARVING! mode - a little too early sweetheart, dinner is in two and a half hours. I tested her just in case she had dropped low but no, she's gone up high.

Why does the kitty want fuds when she's increasing? She's never asked for food when she went low - just went to sleep. confused_cat

Re: 10/2 Angie pmps=430 - why is she getting worse?

Today:
amps - 223
+3 - 238
+6 - 229
+9 - 317
pmps - 430

At the vets, prior to insulin, after having her anal glands expressed and exercising her full vocal range, Angie was 342. Would an underlying infection or something cause her numbers to keep going up even with insuin? Or would the medication from two weeks ago be continuing to cause increasing BG levels?

Could she have sneaked a hypo in between those three hourly readings and her liver brought her back up?

She was so desperate for food by dinner time that she scoffed it down in a split second and practically bit my fingers as I gave her a post testing treat.

Re: 10/2 Angie pmps=430 - why is she getting worse?

Was the vet visit yesterday? If so, the stress may have contributed to the rise in numbers.

If the vet visit wasn't yesterday, I don't think there was a "hypo." Cats' numbers will bounce not only because numbers drop low. That said, low is a relative term. If a cat spends time in a number range their system isn't used to, it can cause the liver and pancreas to overreact. Likewise, if there's a fast drop in numbers (and this could be from the 400s to the low 300s or less, for example), this can trigger a bounce as well. And, there's the ever popular explanation that the numbers are what they are because this is a cat and their goal is to keep us confused.

Thanks Sienne,

No, I was talking about the vet visit that got us back on to insulin. I just though it was strange that she's gone higher on insulin than she did off it. If you don't see anything odd about her numbers I'll stop fretting and just keep on. If she never goes OTJ again, I don't mind, I'd just like to see her happier. That being said, I'd prefer OTJ!

Re: 10/2 Angie pmps=430 :(

Hi Grace ~O) ~O) ~O)

Bummer on that pmps. I will hope she comes down soon. Mannie would got through periods like you describe, where all we saw was up. Then he'd have these periods where we saw weeks of good stuff. Sometimes I just think they like to keep us guessing. darn cats!

I hope your day has been a good one!
