Good Morning LL! Well a flat pink day and the tend continues. Once again , I got over involved in the food research thing. Your fault, Marje, I started following all the links in Jill's post in your condo and it was hours later!

Jill, thanks I've already seen and printed your list, printed it and taken it to the store. Wellness GF Turkey is our mainstay, I just don't want to overdo it. I'm wondering if having let her eat a little more FF lately was what raised her phos level. Unfortunately the only places that carry Wysong are over 40 miles away, I'll see if I can get some to try when I go to SB this weekend. Feline Pride isn't available around here either. Tess still isn't crazy about EVO, but i might have created a monster by letting her taste Friskies. The others are still to be tried.

One you may want to add to the list is Felidae:
  • PureElements 6.2% carbs , 210 phos
    PureSea 4.1% carbs , 200 phos
    Patinum 5.9% carbs , 190 phos
A little higher than i like, but not too bad. I don't know how available they are, it's made locally and I don't know how widely distributed. I do like that they have a complete Nutrient Analysis on their website.

I'm still looking into making rw again. Unfortunately from what I have calculated the TCfeline mix w/ chicken is 348.44mg/100kcalusing a combo of thigh and breast meat. Less than 1% cars though. I just found a recipe on their Canadian for replacing some meat w/ pumpkin for renal cats. But I think more phos actually comes from the powder than the meat and I don't want to reduce protein. I wonder about replacing some w/ cooked egg whites though. I can't paste a table here but I made another sheet on Tess SS called TCfeline (click on the tab) with all the nutrient data for food made with it. NOTE: All the info there is from the old recipe, but there isn't too much change.

I still have to contact Dr. Lisa too about perhaps a custom diet.

WCR All 5 Ps, Clean Plate Club, well, the EVO 95% Chicken & Turkey was marginally acceptable, but the Friskies was a smash hit, of course. I just heard a lot of noise in the litter box …….. oh yeah, that last P is definitely there!

Good afternoon! What's up with the pink Tess??? That is not like you at all and you like yellow and blue much better. Hope she comes down for you soon!

Hi Ann & Tess,
You are really doing great with researching the foods, Ann. We will want to see what you wind up buying, and whether or not Tess likes it, of course! Friskies, huh? I'll have to go read some of those labels next time I'm in the store.

Now, Tess, it's time for you to get back to your good numbers!!

Ella & Rusty

Thanks for the ingredients of Mont. . .(whatever it is; I keep wanting to say marmalade!) Clay. As I said in my response in Rusty's condo: YIKES!!!

Re: 10/19 Tess AMPS~313 +4~358

Hi Ann, I'm also looking for foods low in phosphorus, as Maggie is still Stage two renal disease, so I'll be interested in your research and what Tess thinks about some of the food. Maggie is loving the Nature's Variety bg chicken, but there's one ingredient there with a clay substance that is questionable. It's in Ella and my condo for the info on it. Maggie just loves the NV chicken and has done great with her bg on it. I bought one can of Blue Wilderness chicken to try and also some Merrick bg. Lots of luck; there's so much to learn.

thanks, ann. i'll add Felidae to my list. we haven't tried that brand yet. i'll have to see if it's available around here... or if i can get free shipping. :-D

i've been mixing varieties that have a little higher phos level with ones with lower phos levels. so far alex is cooperating.

you don't want to go with Feline's Pride. the phos levels are all too high. Nature's Variety Beef and Organic Chicken flavors aren't bad... 161 and 160.

if you make raw, chicken thighs are lower in phos than breasts. good luck with the cooked egg whites. i wish alex would eat them, but she won't eat them no matter how finely i chop them.

btw, you may be right about tess' phos level being higher because you had been feeding more FF recently. the phos levels in FF are just too high. i don't bother buying it any more.

Hi again, Ann

Check out Rusty's condo again with regard to M-Clay. Tracy (Leo) has some very interesting things to say!! Also Barbara (Tuffy) told me in a P.M. what her vet-tech, holistic medicine daughter has to say about herbal and other remedies and I paraphrased it in Rusty's condo.

Have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

reading this discussion, was thinking to myself "this is a lot of data...wonder if there will be a test?"

and then thought "this is Tessie Test Queen's condo...are you KIDDING???"

Re: 10/19 Tess AMPS~313 PMPS~297

Just popping in to say HI!, and hope all is well there, Looks like a flat day for Tess, but at least she didn't aim for the stratosphere like Mannie did.

And kudos on all the food research! I hope you can summarize it all when you are done. I am curious as to what you find,as my eldest is early stage renal, and I'd like to well by her, not just with vet prescription foods...

Tess - good job today, but blues look so good on you....
