Good morning. Just posted Apollo's AMBG 114.

Last night I gave him 1/4 a 10mg tab of Pepcid AC, 1/4 a teaspoon of Miralax, and a blob of vaseline under his nose before his PM feeding. This morning I gave him 1/4 a teaspoon of Miralax and a blob of vaseline under his nose before his AM feeding.

I have the pill pockets julie suggested on order and should be here tomorrow. Not sure if he will like them or not, but worth a try.

I will be sure to keep everyone updated on how he is doing. Thanks again for all the kind words and advice.

Hi guys .. lovely start to the day! Our civvie who in the past would never ever take a pill, took down the pill pockets as if they were the greatest things on earth .. in fact, once when the pill popped out, she gobbled it right back up .. must of smelled like the pocket treat .. have a great day!

My civvie Mario is really funny with pill pockets. He takes PB meds twice a day. In the morning, he'll take the pill in the pocket no problem. In the evening, he won't touch it with a 10 foot pole! However, we found the answer: in the evening, we roll the pill pocket in FortiFlora and voila...he LOVES it! Kitties are so funny. So if Apollo doesn't go for the pocket, you could try "enhancing" it with FortiFlora. I've also heard that some folks use parm cheese, too...

All good ideas to try.

The hardest thing to give him thus far is believe it or not is the miralax. Since he only eats some of the food I put down on his plate, I can't completely mix it and be sure he eats it all. I tried mixing it with 1 spoon full of food and putting that down first, letting him eat that then giving him the rest of the food, but all that seemed to do was make him not want the rest of his food. With Apollo it is almost like a rhythm with him eating, if you let him go and don't distract him he will eat pretty good, but if you make a sudden noise, or any sort of distraction he stops eating and walks off. He does come back later to eat some more, but I'd like him to eat a decent amount at the AM and PM feedings, especially when I resume his shots.

This morning I took a syringe (no needle) that I had been using to give him Laxatone with, but this time I drew up 1/4 teaspoon of miralax dissolved in water, pinned him between my legs and gave him it to him that way. Not exactly fun for either or us, but easiest method to give him miralax thus far. Anyone know if they make miralax in pill form? If the treats are a hit I could use them for both Pepcid AC and Miralax.

Question: Does anyone else's cat like to lick on any sort of plastic grocery bags, or the plastic wrapped around cases of bottled water, etc? I think Apollo is just weird as my other cats don't do that. He has a bit of a sandpaper tongue, so whenever he does it I can hear it in the other room. He doesn't bite or eat it just licks it. Weird cat. :lol:

One of my civvies, Petey, likes to chew the shower curtain and electrical cords. Yep, we have very few lamps plugged in around here, and those that are plugged in have huge cord protectors over them!

And my Mario's eating habits are very similar to Apollo's. He and I spend lots of time bonding over his food dish :lol: !

No kitties are weird...they're all just quirky...every last one of them. It's one of their natural character traits!

That would resemble Mr. Snowshoe around here...he meets me at the door on grocery day just to lick the bags. No eating them, just lick them...
