Yeah! Starting off the day in yellow. His BG gradually decreased to 75 at +6  gave him more food and then crashed for a few uninterrupted hours of sleep.

WCR Seems to be a good day today. All personal Ps in place. Pestering for food and more food. Active boy. :-D

Have to go to work. Hope its another huge surfing day in LL and all the kitties stay well. Ginger I hope you feel better and get stronger today.

Re: 10/18PowderAMPS280

Convenia is not recommended....especially for dental...I have to find that link...but it is best to not get that. I see you noted that Powder had it once before though, right? There have been things written that suggest to not use that...let me see if I can find the link...

ETA: it was bookmarked on my other computer...here it is: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2107

I was so happy that Powder was in the yellows after a good run last night then the 470 :o I don't know if he dropped to far today or if he bounced from not having food after 10 am. He usually gets fed around 1:00 DD forgot and then gave him a can at +9 and he almost finished it. ohmygod_smile At +10 when I came home and he saw me pick up the dish, he jumped up and ran over in a princely fashion meowing after more. Hey whacha doin? I wasn't done, I just took a breather! I so hoped I could get home to test and feed today and I forgot about the foodsicles. I'll be glad when the auto feeder gets shipped next Mon.

Tomorrow is the dental and thank you for all the tips and advice. Once I get him home the thing I'm dreading is the antibiotics if he has any extractions. I think I'm going to ask for injectable antibiotics. It sounds extreme but he has been horrible to give meds to. No meat, cheese, treat or chewable wrapped pill has ever fooled him more than a couple of times. He is a lapper not a chewer so I can't get him that way either. He walked away from a piece of a pill pocket. angry(2)_cat He is so good for his shots though so I could do that.

He has had the Convenia shot before and Pat and I think Roni advised against it. Is it just not as effective or is it dangerous? I don't want to use something ever if it can be harmful.Oops just saw your post Pat thanks

Kathy....long before Gracie was dxd with FD, she had a convenia shot....she went into anaphylactic shock after I left the vet. I thought she was dying and I was trying to drive, get the car turned around, and get back to the vet's office. My regular vet was gone for an extended period to take care of her mom and this was another vet she recommended and I trusted him. Thankfully, they got her revived and she spent the day in an oxygen cage but I will NEVER use anything long lasting like that again. We were lucky that after the original reaction, she didn't have any other problems with it but she gets NO CONVENIA. I hope the dental goes really well...will keep you in our thoughts and please let us know when he's done!

Hi! Bummer on the pmps. but I expect its just a bounce, and Powder should come on down soon.

On the convenia... there is a discussion on that drug in my 9/13 condo: after it had been given to Mannie as a result of an injury: convenia. You can also google it h ere on the board can get even more info. I personally will never use it again - the potential side affects involved with severe anemia are just too great. I hope you can find another antibiotic. I understand the difficulty involved with pilling a cat that just will not tolerate pills. I hope you can find something else... Convenia just was not designed for use after dentals.

Good luck though with the dental. I hope all goes well! Good luck Powder! Mannie say he will round up the gang. once you get home, and all will come to help you get rid of the vetty smell...

have a great evening!

Hi Kathy, it's frustrating when things don't go as we plan, isn't it? Nobody likes the reds, so please come back down from there as soon as you can, ok Powder?

Convenia is suitable for skin infections, from what I have seen Dr. Lisa (vet) post. She is concerned that it is used inappropriately and far too frequently, and it can have potentially fatal side effects. I would never let the vet give it to any of my cats under any circumstances, since there are always alternatives that are far less risky. Please tell your vet, before you leave Powder there, if you don't want it given....there have been far too many cases of vets giving the shot without consulting the cat's owner first!

Here's a discussion about it. viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2107&start=0&hilit=convenia

Re: 10/18PowderPMPS 415 +5 113

I am so grateful for each and everyone of you :YMHUG: I will never let any animal of mine have Convenia again. Thank you! I don't know what I will do for dosing him but I guarantee it won't be long acting. I feel like I dodged a bullet.

I fell asleep reading Pat's link right after I posted and missed about sweet Ginger  LL has lost so many kitties in the short time I've includ joined. I keep reliving saying good bye to my Lucky and I miss him so much. These special souls give us so much and stay with us forever. Good Night (morning?) to everyone.
