I owe many generous souls a response from The Pirates last condo a couple of days ago. It's been very hectic here but I wanted to let you know that all the heartfelt vines are hugely appreciated.

Fitzels u/s is at 1:30pm this afternoon. I'm not allowing any aspirants or biopsies as chemo and surgery are not paths I'm willing to follow.

I'll post when I know what's what. Please keep the Pirate in your thoughts.

Thank you.
Shai

Re: 10/18 - Fitzel - Ultrasound Today

All paws crossed here for a boring U/S today and sending calming vines to both you and the Pirate.

Re: 10/18 - Fitzel - Ultrasound Today

Sending mega calming vines to you and the Pirate Fitzel cat_pet_icon

It looks like you hove-to yesterday in preparation for more heavy weather sailing today, and are taking all precautions by sailing with the main sail reefed and the foresail switched to a #4 jib.

Fitzel is an experienced Pirate and knows hows to handle a storm, and we are happy for the good news that she will be rafting off of the SS Ultra-Sound to take on medical support today.

Keep the hatches battened down until the storm passes. They always do. Meantime the SS Meezer is sending smooth sailing maritime angels to your aid, and is standing by for further reports of your progress.

Re: 10/18 - Fitzel - Ultrasound Today/Update

They just took her back to shave her belly. I was given a release form to sign for possible sedation - Fitz is already foamy just from the fast and the ride down. I checked the box that if Anything went wrong with the sedation to DNR. This just has my gut in my throat and the tears so close to the surface.

My heart would want CPR and everything done. But if Fitz was deprived of oxygen she would have brain impairment. I checked the box with DNR. Oh Lord let this decision not enter the situation.

Re: 10/18 - Fitzel - Ultrasound Today/Update

Shai, Sorry you and Fitz are going through all this, hope the ultrasound helps you get some answers. Sending you both positive vines.

Re: 10/18 - Fitzel - Ultrasound Today/Update

Hopefully, You'll have answers soon.......
Try to keep calm. Things will work out. Knowledge is power! Hugs !!!!!!!

First- thank you Wendy, Alexa, Rhiannon, Leslie and Chris. I'm very grateful for your calming/good results vines. Thank you so much.

Fitz has moderate to severe chronic pancreatitis. She also has a thickened small intestinal walls and it looks very much like IBD. I won't subject her to a scope for a definitive dx but I'm going to assume she is dealing with the disease. Right now she's a symptomatic but we'll be watching.

Her liver is fine as is her spleen her stomach and kidneys. No sign of lymph node involvement and no masses or nodules were found. The vet wants to check Fitzels B12 levels but that will have to wait as it will require a vet trip and my poor girl is all done in as is her Bean.

So now the pirate is home and very disapproving of her shorn belly. She's licking and licking and meowing under her breath in little chirps. I think she might be a bit ticklish there.

She was enormously hungry after her imposed fast and I'm giving her a bit at a time so she doesn't scarf and barf. Her numbers are a disaster but she's way over due for her shot and I just gave that to her.

Everyone here is so amazing and loving. I feel blessed to be among you. Oh and Alexa you make an awesome piratical bard!

In gratitude
Shai and The Pirate Fitz

(((((Shai))))) What a day. I hope you and the Pirate can rest and relax a bit now. There is a lot of good news in that report and it's very helpful to know what you're dealing with, instead of guessing. Sending tons of healing vines to you, Fitz and Judith.
Liz

The report has more good news than bad! Nothing you can't handle.
You will have to tell the Pirate "no more rum soaked, drunken nights in Shang Hai." Her diet will have to be more bland......"gone are the fire roasted wild boar shanks in Borneo"!
Porridge, grewl and bangers 'n mash will be her new food staples......

Oh I wish I would have known you were dealing with this today! I would have added in my prayers .. Glad all seems to have gone well, and you are back home .. sending healing thoughts little fitz's way ..

I'm glad that the report is better than everything you were fearing. There is a lot of expertise here with both pancreatitis and IBD.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with B12 levels. You could start supplements even without a blood test. It's a water soluble vitamin. Anything that's not needed by the body is excreted.

Shai, I'm so glad that The Pirate Fitz 's U/S was overall positive. We will be thinking of you and have The Pirate Fitz and you in our prayers. Tell the Pirate that the wide belt with the hugh buckle pirates always wear will easily cover up the shaven belly and no one the wiser.

Hi Shai and Fitzel,

We are very glad that your news is all in all good news. Fitzel, you can now join the shaved belly club (there are quite a few members here!).

Wishing you calm seas this evening and something scrumptious from the galley.

Shai, wishing you a good evening of winding down and getting some rest.

Ella & Rusty

Ahoy Pirate Fitzel! We just got wind of the fine news brought by the SS Ultra-Sound, and send greetings of celebration at only finding standard Pirate wear and tear  Pirate Captain Roo.Rey of the SS Meezer has similar wear and tear from all the years plying the salty seas, and no one`s the wiser. Me thinks the crew does not even suspect any ill health on the part of their Captain.

We raise our mug of grog to you; Well Done, and we wish you both a peaceful night recovering in your bunks. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

The Pirate requests me to relay her extreme gratitude to all for their well wishes and healing vines. They helped her enormously today with this most difficult battle. They did Mommy Bean a whole lot of good as well. cat_pet_icon

@ Liz - rest and relaxing seems a foreign concept, but I'm sure going to try. Yes, knowing is much better than guessing. I understand what she's dealing with inside and can be (hopefully) more of a help to her. Haven't been able to get her to pee on a ketostick yet, but I'm in this for the long haul.

@Chris - no more rum? You seriously want me to tell Pirate Fitz no more rum after the day she's had today? Oh, I know, let's get Tucker to tell her. Dressed in his Puss n' Boots attire he'll be most imposing indeed.

@PeterDevonMocha - Prayers are appreciated always. Thank you so much for including us in yours. It means a lot to me.

@Sienne - I'll be needing that expertise re: pancreatitis and IBD. Should I be looking into any dietary changes from her LC menu because of this dx? What form of B12 is available for kitties? Hopefully liquid, but how much would I give her? I'm very interested in this so any info will be gratefully accepted.

@John - after reading your informative post I immediately fetched the high buckle, wide piratical belt. You're right. No a bare spot in sight. The Pirate asked me to tell you in gratitude for your savy suggestion she'll leave your home port unscathed when next she's raiding and looting in your area.

@Ella - Pirate Fitz hereby accepts the offered invitation to the Shaved Belly Club, even though she'll be wearing her high buckle, wide piratical belt which hides all evidence of such indignities. Seas are a bit calmer tonight and we are both grateful and exhausted. The galley was quick to prepare a nice LC meal for the Pirate and a whole pint of Hagan Daz Vanilla Chocolate Chip for Mommy Crew. :-D

@ Alexa - Avast, Matey. Pirate Fitz is sending a keg of her finest rum in appreciation to Pirate Captain Roo.Rey of the keen ship SS Meezer. Capt. Roo.Rey's swash and buckle reputation precedes him and the Pirate looks forward to a parlay re: keeping crew in the dark.

@ Amy - The Pirate feels much better because of all the love and healing vines sent her way today. Thank you so much for yours.

WCR - all seems to be well tonight. dancing_cat

My heart is full and I feel enormously blessed. Thank you all.

Shai

You can use Zobaline - it's a form of B12. B12 is cobalamine. One of it's metabolites is methylcobalamin (or methyl B-12) which is what is commonly used for our kitties with neuropathy.

Alternatively, your vet may want to give injections of B12. These are sub-q injections just like insulin. Given how unhappy Fitz is with trips to the vet, you may want to find out if you can give the injections at home. (I have a friend who gives her cat B12 injections at home.)

Good call on dose when shooting today especially because of stress from vet. As everyone else as said you and fitz can deal with this dx as well!! From our phone conversation- I just checked all my notes on my 1st diabetic whom after ultra sound was dx pancreatic cancer. So ultra sound was well worth it and very good news- NOT what you were thinking!!

hugs to all....

((Shai)))

I have been following Fitzel's journey but haven't posted. But I keep her in my thoughts and prayers every day and you as well. I am so happy for the news....while it's not fun for our babies to be sick with ptitis or IBD, they both can be addressed and she can get better. She has the greatest mom in the world and now...let the healing begin.

Sending your sweet girl mountains of healing vines and white light.

Oh, I had no idea. I thought I saw "ultrasound cancelled" the other day. I'm so happy the results were overall good. Hugs, Shai!

Hi guys,

OH do I know how awful it is to hold your kitty while she's sedated. I can imagine this was a very hard day for you. VERY happy to hear things are clear now and that the results were not as bad as you had feared. Hang in there little pirate. Things are turning around.

Hope you're well and more relaxed today.
Jill

Tucker decided to change his look so The Pirate couldn't recognize him, after the bad news of "No more rum!"

Hi Shai,

I have been following also but had no internet for a couple of days off and on so didn't know today was the US. I'm so glad it's not as bad as expected. Pancreatitis & IBD ar both treatable and you can do this. You poor guys have been through the wringer today. I think you both need treats and some fun.

Go have some fun and rest. TTYL.
