BG going up, I am wondering if the phenobarbital and the gabapentin effect the glucose level. Also the pill pockets have corn syrup.

But WORST of all, she has started totally refusing the pill pockets!!! ARRRGH!!!
Tonight I got the phenobarb into her by putting it down her throat (it is very tiny), and the liquid gabapentin arrived, but I am not sure how much of it she got. I ordered fish flavor and put in in a little fish food that she has always liked, but she didn't eat it all. She was having a rough time eating, so I don't know what is going to happen with this medicine. I am thinking of ordering the beef flavor, since that is the food that she eats most consistently---but it's making me crazy to try all these different things (I bought all different flavors of the pill pockets--salmon, duck, beef,=== and a tuna flavored hairball gel to try rubbing on the pills)---especially since the medicine has not fully relieved her symptoms.
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

((((hugs)))) maybe it's the corn syrup raising her BGs and it'll turn out to be a good thing she's refusing them (stretching for the silver lining here ;-) )

I've had some success before dipping a pill in baby food and then popping it down that way - not to let them stop and eat it, but to make it seem more appealing - it's worked before, but is very messy

wish I could help more.... I think maybe you already said they don't have an injectable form?

We've been doing IM [intramuscular injection] with F. It doesn't seem that hard [hope I'm doing it right]. I've only done it though with someone else's help holding F and he is very laid back. He does wince good even with the 31g needles. I just mention that in case there is maybe an injectable of one of your meds but that requires IM. Great suggestion Joanna.

fyi check the ingredients of that tuna flavored hairball meds- Is it laxatone-tuna? I think it might have a lot of sugar in it- like maybe molasses or corn syrup.

would she eat hard boiled egg? I wonder if you could use the white as a "pill pocket"
or maybe some soft cheese (velveeta, soft american slices). Dairy has sugar (lactose), but I'm thinking it would be less than corn syrup.
