Good Morning LL! Muffin brought herself down nicely overnight. I must admit I'm a little surprised that she was high for that long - I didn't know it could take that long for stress to wear off. But there may have been just a little bit of contraband in that 304, too. Ambg was taken before the girls were up. Muffin did want to go outside afterward for some grass (surprising after her day out there yesterday  ) but I didn't have time to take her as I was a little behind schedule getting the girls ready for school. Muffin's been a bit scarce this morning, hasn't finished breffis - this new role of caring for and delivering the girls in the mornings has really put a cramp in her morning style

Kibby has a vetty appt in about an hour. I've given him 1/2 tab acepromazine, which I finger fed in food to make sure he got it down. Turns out that was good, as he didn't eat everything in the dish and Cleetus finished it for him. Now I have to go bring the carrier in - I left it outside yesterday. I think Kibby already knows something's up, tho.

Re: 10/17 Muffin ambg 133 Day 10

Hi guys .. isn't it crazy how our cats can react to a change in their environment? Once they get a routine down, they don't like change! Good luck at the vet's today, hope the visit goes well for you ... have a great day!

Re: 10/17 Muffin ambg 133 Day 10

Back from the vet with Kibby. Dr felt there was no soreness in his joints, so took him in the back and shaved his leg all the way up to his elbow. Found only an old scar from an ancient scratch and a very small red spot on the top of his paw. So he suspects there is just some soft tissue inflammation. We are putting him on a short light course of prednisolone - 1/2 tab sid for 4 days and then 1/2 tab every other day for 4 days, so just 8 days total, 6 doses. If after 10-14 days I'm still seeing limping, he'll do xrays to take a better look at the joints.

Kibby came home and wanted to eat, so I took the opportunity to give the meds. I broke the 1/2 tab in 1/2 and shoved it in the fuds, then sprinkled fortiflora over the area where the pieces were, to ensure he would eat that portion. He was moving from his fuds dish to Muffin's fuds dish, to Cleetus' fuds dish...very wobbly and unstable on his feet. So after I was sure he had eaten the meds, I took him to the bed and laid down with him. He bathed his newly-naked leg, and then got up to try going somewhere else. I brought him back to cuddle with me (a little worried he'd fall off the edge of the bed) but he only stayed about 10 mins and then went off to his bathroom cupboard, where he is resting comfortably.

I made an appt for Shnookie for tomorrow morning to recheck his heart murmur and T4 (it's been nearly 7 months since he began methimazole) I was researching hyper-T yesterday (I was surprised to realize I hadn't really done much of that yet  ) and I will ask Dr what his thoughts are on I131 treatment. Particularly if the numbers have gone up and he wants to increase the dose (he started on a low dose - 1/2 tab bid) I'll be interested in looking into doing that for him. He's only 8 yrs old, and if he already has hyper-T and a heart murmur, I'm feeling there's a good possibility he'll develop more health issues as he gets older, and I'm not sure I want to keep him on a med long term (1) so early in his life (2) that has a possibility of creating liver issues, and (3) that doesn't actually address the problem, just treats the symptoms.

Way to stay the course Muffin and bring it back down to the green surf. Keep working those numbers so you get to stay OTJ. Fur Ball needs a party buddy for the weekend. We'll have back-to-back celebrations. :-D :-D :-D

Have a great night.

I a so glad to see muffin came down her own, YAY!

Good news too I hope on Kibby. Good luck with Shnookie. we did the I131 on cat years ago, same reason as you say. it worked wonderfully, and I never regretted the decision.
