injections are still hit or miss on how well they go. He is very leery of the needle going in at this point so it’s hard to tell now if it’s from the needle or the insulin but before it seemed very clear it was happening during injection. Will give it this week before I decide if I am getting the new pens.

He looks like he needs an increase. Did you have any issues with getting the whole dose into him in the last 4-6 cycles?

The morning of 10/15 is the last time he ran away in the middle of a shot- so can’t say for sure he got that full shot but I did keep going back to give whatever was left. I feel confident that he got the full dose in the past 4 injections (including this morning).

I apologize is this is repeating what you know but what I do is put a little bit of her high value treat which for her is cheddar cheese broken upin a saucer right in front of her. When she leans over to eat give her the shot and she never says a peep. I had to learn to be sure the needle is parallel to her back. You might give her a saucer with cheese or her treat a few times without the shot.

Thank you, always happy to hear other pointers! Over the past two months he has rarely reacted to the shot so now I’m worried he may be either experiencing a sting from the insulin or having trouble with scar tissue or just more sensitive and fed up maybe? So all the diversions are definitely helpful, as I got spoiled by him not reacting and he didn’t need them. But if he is being stung by the insulin I’ll need to try him on something else. Of course now he hates the needle altogether and it’s hard to say if it’s because of the sting he felt or he just doesn’t like the needle anymore…but the diversions are definitely helpful!
