Started Lucky on the sliding scale that was created by Robin last night! Still too early to tell anything though.

Today was weird with high and flat numbers. I'm thinking of trying one more vial of ProZinc and continuing with a sliding scale before giving up on the ProZinc.

We also decided today that we are going home to NC for Christmas and that we are taking Lucky with us. The two civvies are staying here with a pet sitter coming to take care of them. I was really down about feeling tied down because of Lucky's diabetes, but we really want to go home this year so we are going to make it happen!! I'm really excited

Good for you! some thing to look forward to is always a great feeling!
good luck with your sliding scale!

Good news all around! Hope the sliding scale works. Watch for Denise and Shake's posts. They are starting a sliding scale this week also. I hope it works for both of you!

We traveled with all our cats and after a short acclimation, they did great. ProZinc would probably be the easiest insulin to travel with because it is more forgiving if the shots are a little late or a little early.

YES, No where finer than North Carolina to spend Christmas!!!

I travel with Kitty all the time...no issues!

I happy for you!

This made me sing to myself, "Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the moooorning!"

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for Shakes SS to see how it goes for them too.

Anyone know how it works to get insulin from a vet that you've never been to before? Would they make me bring Lucky in? Would they have to contact the vet he's been seeing? I don't want to get it from the vet we had been going to because she knows I do a SS and she might ask for it. We kind of disagreed about how I was handling things the last time I took Lucky in and I haven't spoken to her since. She would seriously freak out if she saw Lucky's SS with the dose changes and the testing I've done. And I'm pretty sure she'd want me to bring him in and charge me when all I need is a new vial.

Hmm. I think any new vet will require you to come in to get a new vial - maybe without Lucky or maybe with him. Can't just call current vet and say you need a new vial and things are going great (no details?)

I would think that the new vet could just call the old one to verify that a prescription exists, and then write a new one if needed. Probably not even speak directly to the doc.

You know, I think I will try calling in and telling them that I need a new vial and that things are going great. If they say I need to come in, I'll just tell them that I don't think it's necessary and that I don't have the money for the office visit (which is true)! I really need to work on putting my foot down :?

But I do have a feeling that they'll try to insist I bring him in so they can see him. Really there's nothing that they need to do other than weigh him and I have a scale at home to weigh him. The vet wanted to do a fructosamine test last time and wasn't very happy when I declined. So she would probably want to try to do that again. Ah, why do I worry? lol I should just call and see instead of sitting here worrying. He's my cat, not theirs!

When i got my Scrip, it came with unlimited refills for one year. I got my vials thru the mail
