Another pink start, sigh. We increased this morning to +3 and I am so hoping that eventually we will find that magic dose that makes everything fall into place. Maybe it's no longer possible, and if so, then we will do the best we can every day, as we all do.

Meanwhile, I'm at my desk and Chispa is grooming on her crinkly paper, with a background of "Cozy October" Spotify playlist. Happy Wednesday to all kitties and their peeps -- and to those who had Monday as a holiday, happy "fake Tuesday" to you! :cat::bighug:

Good luck with the increase! Kit is a huge fan of brown craft paper - like what they use to pack inside boxes? We save it all for her (and there are a couple of offices on campus who save it for her too).
I hope Chispa starts to show you better numbers soon - I'm sending "find that dose" vibes your way. :bighug:

Good luck with the increase, Karen!
Chispa will get there, where things will fall into the right places. Patience pants, remember? :p
Nice to feel her while working, sounds lovely. Wishing you and Chispa a nice evening! :bighug:

@Diane Tyler's Mom GA @cecile & bella @Alicia & Kit cat @Mikanmama

Thank you all for your good wishes.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: These pink patience pants I'm wearing are not the most comfortable thing,:p but her PMPS was a near miss of yellow, so there's some progress, I hope.

She looooves her crinkly brown paper (from Chewy boxes) and spends most of the day stationed on it. A paper bag sounds like all kinds of fun for Bella! And it's so nice that Kit has folks on campus who save their craft paper for her.

Wishing you all steady numbers and a peaceful night :bighug::cat:

Ok, this is nuts. I felt the TINIEST drop of Lantus on Chispa's fur after her PM shot ... and now her BG has shot up from 302 PMPS to 490 in only four hours. I've fed her nothing but LC (supposedly 2%) and I'm sure she hasn't gotten into anything. I'm trying to keep my patience pants on, but it really seems like the more juice I give her, the higher her numbers go. What could be causing this? Should I back off and see if the numbers come down? It's so alarming to see 490 when I've just given her a dose that is 2x what she was getting two months ago. I'm really worried and wondering if something is terribly wrong.

@Wendy&Neko and anyone else who would like to weigh in, would you mind looking at her SS? It's after 1 AM here and I have to hit the hay, but I'll check back in the morning, or more likely, in a few hours when I wake up and can't get back to sleep. Thanks so much.

P.S. At her vet appointment on Tuesday, the internist said he heard a "galloping" heart sound and wanted her to see a cardiologist. I googled that when I got home and it sounded like impending doom. I reported what I'd read when he called today with lab results, and he said no, that's not true, it does not necessarily indicate a dire situation, though she should see a cardiologist (we have appt on 10/30). Do you know anything about this, and could these extreme numbers be the result of a heart condition? I am trying to maintain hope until we can see the cardiologist, but I feel very confused.

ETA: She looks fine, in fact she is very bright and alert, and she is eating, purring, pooping, etc.

Oh, Karen, I am sorry! This is so frustrating.
Is your insulin old? I am not sure what else to suggest. It's good if Chispa is doing well otherwise, hopefully it is just something silly that will disappear with no aparent reason, but it is so hard, we always worry about our cats.
Her gallop could be due to congestive heart disease, which according to the cardiologist we just saw for Bella, is common in older cats. She also said that they tend to respond very well to treatment if that's the case.
I don't see how that would increase her BG, though. Anyway, I really hope she will go down and most of all, keep feeling happy :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much, Cecile -- I really appreciate your support. She had a not-so-bad-considering start today (I need to start a new thread) and is down to 127 as of +3. Surprise!
Your suggestion of old insulin is one I hadn't thought of. I checked, and I last changed it in August, so it should be ok -- but thanks for the reminder.
I'm especially encouraged by your report from the cardiologist. Chispa tends to respond well to all meds, so that gives me lots of hope. I'm also very glad that Bella's report came back clean after her scary episode. Please give her a lick of butter from me! :bighug::bighug::cat::bighug::bighug:
