This morning I injected into a completely new spot down lower than I normally do, still on his flank but closer to his mid-back, and he didn’t flinch at all or run away hissing mid-shot. Assuming it wasn’t a fur-shot (I didn’t smell or feel insulin), I think it may have been hurting b/c I was injecting into scar tissue. I was definitely feeling tough skin when I was injecting before (but didn’t realize that was why until I researched some more) and I think that might have been painful. @Sugar’s Mama Singing to Biggie this morning during shot time helped, too!
I have woken up late two mornings in a row and he is now an hour behind his normal schedule! We’ll get back to normal, slowly but surely…
Fingers crossed his next shots go well! But if he continues to have pain in completely new injection sites I will probably need to switch. I forgot to warm his syringe this morning, so thinking maybe it’s the injection site since nothing else changed this morning. I will warm it next time though, just to cover all the bases!
