Morning, thanks Michelle, Marge, Christie, Amy, and Anne & Zener for visiting Mag's condo last evening and sorry I missed you. I get up so early that I start failing around 7 pm! How do you Zonies survive the heat? I don't know what I would do if I have a date! All is well with Maggie, and she's having a great cycle so far. We had play time with her pole mouse toy and good breffifs. She didn't wake me and I forgot to set the alarm and woke up just in time to poke, shoot and feed! I don't know if it is the new brothy Nature's Variety food, but Maggie seems constipated, just teeny, teeny lb'ers. Do any of you add any fiber to the foods? I do have Miralax and may need to use it. I'm going to take a walk before it gets too warm and will read a few condos and then catch up later. I've been exhausted from the heat.

Re: 10/15 Maggie AMPS 141; +3 100; +4 103 ATrak

Maggie, those are fabulous GREEN numbers! And on the ATrak too! We are finally getting to the point where we don't totally panic and crack open the HC fuds when Zener drops to 100. Well, most of the time. If we have to leave for some reason, like work, and Zener is where Maggie is right now, we would probably feed some HC because we would not be able to test and steer. The more data we get though the better we are at not panicking! ;-)
We are in Flagstaff, so no heat. We're at 7000 feet, where we have snow in the winter. In fact, we had a little bit of snow up on the mountains (10,000-12,000 feet) last weekend. Our temperature range this week was highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid to low 30s.
Hope you have a great walk!

Good morning Ann! Eeeeesch on the high temps...I hope it breaks for you soon. We've begun to see fall again and were able to open our windows yesterday for the 2nd time this year - I just love fall in Florida and hope it sticks around for awhile this go round.

I'm not sure about using Mira-lax on cats....I do know that adding more water to the food can certainly help if she's constipated. Also, sometimes the quality of the food can make a difference in the amount of lb produced. The higher the quality and quantity of protein, sometimes the less output. They're actually able to use more of the food and produce less waste. I'm not at all familiar with what you changed to and from....so just a few thoughts to consider. Have a great day and enjoy that lovely cycle!

Re: 10/15 Maggie AMPS 141; +3 100; +4 103 ATrak

Hi Anne,
Thanks on the cycle and for the visit. I just changed to Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken, and I am so surprised I finally found a fuds she likes, and it agrees with her cycle. I also used to panic with low numbers on the ATrak, especially 80 or below, but now I'm a little better knowing how to steer the numbers with food. Maggie is so sensitive to carbs that it's not at all hard to get a rise. Thanks for explaining about Flagstaff and the heat. Brrr....30 degrees is pretty cold. I used to live in PA with six months' Winter weather, and I don't think I'd ever want to do it again.

Hi Jessica, thanks for visiting and for the info on the higher the quality and quantity of protein, sometimes the less output and producing less waste. That's very interesting. when Maggie was eating FF, there was never a problem with lb movement. Christie just gave me a link, and I have to check it further, but it's 3 carbs and 0.20% phosphorus. I'm watching the phosphorus, too, for her renal disease.

Ann, what wonderful numbers for Miss Maggie today. Sorry about her constipation issues. I have used miralax but what works best for Cleo, who gets constipated alot, is giving her a little slippery elm bark (Marje suggested it to me). It has really worked wonders for her. She doesn't like it sprinkled in her food so I usually mix it with a little water and syringe it or put it in a smaller gel cap and give it to her that way.

I went to a small pet store yesterday and they had all kinds of different foods. i stocked up on some I have never heard of and will experiment to see if Simon likes them and will eat them. I did buy a couple of cans of Nature's variety. Have you noticed anything different with bg after feeding it to Maggie?

Have a great weekend!

Re: 10/15 Maggie AMPS 141; +3 100; +4 103 ATrak

Hi Georgia, thanks for stopping by this morning and for the info on slippery elm bark. I should be able to find it in this one vitamin/grocery market where I shop quite often. I did notice her numbers improved on the Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken flavor. Maggie did great on FF Seafood Feast, but they say not to feed too much fishy flavors. The Nature's Variety brand is nice and brothy, too, so good with the added water. I haven't tried any of their other flavors. I was going to order from Pet Food direct until I saw the shipping charge, but the convenience would be nice, too, having it delivered at the door. It was on sale for $1.10/can at Petco.

Re: 10/15 Maggie AMPS 141; +3 100; +4 103; +7 94 ATrak

+7 94
This is very strange, but nice, as Maggie never has a late Nadir and usually rises at the +7! I just kept giving her the lc fuds. She woke up from her nap and was headbutting, so I did a poke. They sure keep us guessing.

Re: 10/15 Maggie AMPS 141; +3 100; +4 103; +7 94; PMPS 141

PMP 141

Maggie has the same PMPS reading as the AMPS! I'm wondering how some of you get the subject line with the BG's to word wrap. I run out of room when I start the PMPS?

Hi guys - wow on the same amps and pmps. I love it when that happens. :-D It has been a nice cycle for Maggie.

And she let you sleep in today? Nice job Maggie!

Nice that you could get your walk in - I can't fathom the heat... we are at 48 today. a nice sunny cool fall day.

Just like Trix...I switched her to Instinct Chicken last week and instantly saw better BGS. I guess the girls are on the same track!

I'm jealous of the heat. I love boots and jackets...but HATE being cold. I plan to retire in the south some day....

Yikes, a low green! I'm going to feed lc and see where she's headed!

Hi Amy, very interesting that Trixie's numbers also improved with the Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken. I'm glad she likes it, too.

Yikes is right! That is pretty low for Maggie with the Atrak. Looks like you will be up for awhile. And you get up so early...hope Maggie will come up for you so you will get some rest. Looks like Maggie is really liking the Nature's Variety. You asked on Simon's condo about the size of the Nature's Variety can I paid $2.00 for. It was the 5 oz can so I guess that isn't too bad of price considering.

go, go Miss Mags!!! Heading for a dosecrease tonight?? Looks like you'll be up for a bit tonight, Ann!

I've never used any sort of fiber with Willie... even he's eating raw exclusively, things move, albeit, slower than usual... on raw, he poos every 2-3 days. Good luck figuring out how to get things going for Maggie!
