Good Morning LL! I think things are getting back to normal around here. Tess doesn't seem to want to eat after the Orbax at night, so we might want to change her food schedule for the duration, a little more that usual at +2 instead of +3 and the Orbax shortly after.

does anyone know the carbs and/or Phos in CatSip milk? Tess will drink that even if she won't eat.

WCR All 5 Ps, not quite Clean Plate Club this morning, but I'm giving her a little more time, nice sunny morning here and window patrol has been resumed.

Re: 10/14 Tess AMPS154 +2~234 +5~176

Hi Ann ~O) ~O) ~O)

Good luck with all there with Tess's AB's and the fuds schedule. The revised one sounds good, one does what one needs to do to get the fuds in them, and the meds. I have no clue on the CatSip.... I did find this on PetsMart web site, but imagine you've probably already looked there, and this is a guaranteed analysis, not always the best for carb calcs....
"Ingredients: Lowfat (1%) Grade A milk, Lactase Enzyme, and Taurine.
Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (min.) 2.5%
Crude Fat (min.) 1.0%; (max) 5.0%
Crude Fiber (max.) 0.0%
Moisture (max.) 90.0%
Taurine* (min.) .005%
It sounds like maybe a good alternative for her, when the need arises...

I hope your day has been :-D a good one.

I had info on the cat sip when I first started here. I'll be back.
I've got to go hunt it down.
We contacted the company.

Re: 10/14 Tess AMPS154 +2~234 +5~176 +11~48

found it. When I first got here, I wrote to Dr. Pierson about catsip and I still have the email from her saying it was okay.
Hello Rhiannon,
Please limit shrimp to just a treat - not a main meal.
Cat sip milk is fine.
Unfortunately, my website generates ~20,000 emails per year so if you need more help, it will have to be given via a phone consultation.
Kind regards,
Dr. Pierson

Then a friend contacted the company by email and this is their reply.

CatSip is real Grade A 1% lowfat milk from the dairy with the lactose removed and taurine (an amino acid which is good for a cat's heart and eyes) added. CatSip is a wholesome snack. CatSip has the same nutritional value as any other regular lowfat milk......11.66 grams of carbohydrates per cup and 102 calories per cup.

CatSip has nothing in it except (1) lowfat milk, (2) lactase enzyme, and (3) taurine. While we would not comment on its appropriateness for a diabetic cat, we can advise you that when we marketed Lactaid Milk, we had a concern that the hydrolysis of lactose, creating glucose and galactose, might trigger a problem with diabetic humans. We were advised by doctors that this in fact presented no problem and we opted not to print a diabetic 'warning' on the label.

In the years since Lactaid introduction, some billions of servings have been consumed, no doubt in proportional part by diabetics. We are unaware of one single reported event linking a diabetic reaction to Lactaid Milk. CatSip is identical with Lactaid Milk, with the taurine addition.

(However, if your veterinarian recommends that you not give your cat regular milk, then you would not be able to give her CatSip either.)

I hope this helps. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi Ann, Looks like Tess had a fine day. Glad the Orbax is working. Interesting on the Catsip milk. Does Tess like dairy?

See you tomorrow; have a good night.

Re: 10/14 Tess AMPS 154 PMPS~58 +2~144 +4~246

OH! My! I wasn't expecting that drop! We fed Tess a little LC at +11 so the PMPS is food influenced. Pokefest in Tessville tonight!

Thanks Rhiannon, what i got from "Nutrition Data" is pretty close for 1% milk: 46% Carbs, 13kcal/oz, 230mg Phos /100kcal. Might be a good boost for carbs and I'd only be giving her 1/4 to 1/2 ounce any way so w/ the low calorie means not many carbs or phos.

Re: 10/14 Tess AMPS 154 PMPS~58

Wow! bTW, your last post shows she popped up but your subject line doesn't.

I sure hope you can find an AB that works for her. Ni Ni!

Re: 10/14 Tess AMPS 154 PMPS~58

Ella, yes Tess loves dairy! No ice cream in 3 years. Sorry about the Lagoon Rusty! How about tomorrow? -- Tess
