10/13 Lovie - New and need dosing help for tonight's shot in one hour

My cat, Lovie, came out of remission 3 weeks ago. My sister, @Jan Radar has helped me alot during this time. Without her consistent daily help I don't know how I would've survived because I often feel overwhelmed and not sure what to do next.

My sister says that we need other experienced eyes to look at Lovie's spreadsheet so this is why I'm posting.

Could someone with "wise eyes" as my sister calls them please look at Lovie's spreadsheet and tell us what you see?

We are currently thinking that we should leave the dose at 0.75 so we are sure she has enough insulin since she has a history of DKA. I am currently stalking the LB to get a pee sample for a ketone test but have had no luck as of now.

Since Lovie is bouncing tonight you can shoot the 0.75 units and then make any dose adjustments tomorrow morning. It looks like you are following SLGS and I think that is what Jan mentioned. With SLGS Lovie earns a reduction when she goes under 90. You'll want to find a dose you can shoot consistently without skipping. She probably would have gone under 90 today if you had shot. I suspect you'll catch the test that shows her under 90 soon and she'll earn a reduction to 0.5 units.

I don't think Lovie is just bouncing. This is the double whammy -- a low pre-shot so you didn't shoot which means this is also the effect of a skipped shot. You have a bounce plus a skipped shot so those red numbers aren't too big of a surprise.

I actually can't tell from your spreadsheet (SS) whether you're following TR or SLGS. Could you take a look at the sticky on dosing methods and put a note in your signature regarding which approach you're using. 'this is important because if you're following SLGS, Lovie gets a dose reduction. If you're using TR, your kitty did not earn a reduction.

It would also be helpful if you can get at least a before bed test every night. Many cats experience lower numbers during the PM cycle. For example, Lovie's numbers dropped at some point during yesterday's PM cycle isince your kitty dropped from the 300s to the 90s. You were likely to have noticed a drop sometime during the PM cycle and could have buffered the drop with food. Those PM tests are important!

Sienne, even though Lovie did not go below 90 today she should still get a reduction? I thought she'd need to go below 90 to get the reduction.

@Jan Radar - you are correct, it's below 90. Sometimes, it's splitting hairs, though. I'm a bit nervous about the lack of PM tests so it's a bit of a judgement call. I'd err on the side of safety and drop the dose but it's not technically a necessity. If there were more PM tests, I'd be more confident about whether or not to reduce.
