Morning LL,

Well Leo seems to be doing alright, his little face is a little swollen on the one side where he got his toofies pulled. He was zombie cat yesterday so i switched giving him bupe from TID to BID, so along with his insulin this morning he also got a dose of bupe. He puts up a pretty good fight with me when i give him his bupe, i kept getting my hand slapped everytime i put that syringe close to his mouth. Otherwise we had a good test, shoot and feed this morning. Leo gave me the highest number we've had in awhile for an AMPS but is happy and purry.

Back to the grandparents for Leo today, i hate leaving him, but mommas gotta work to pay off that dental, keep Leo in strips and yummy cat food. Hopefully Leo won't put up too much of a fight when they give him bupe.

Have a great Thursday all.

Hi Tracy, nice to hear Leo is doing okay after his dental, but sorry the one side is swollen. Oh boy, looks like Leo will have a nice day with getting spoilled with DGP's. Now Leo be nice and take your happy med Bupe like a good boy! The dentals are so expensive. I have VPI which covers some of it! Have a nice day.

Hi guys .. not a bad start at all considering what he's been through .. hopefully the swelling goes down soon .. and hopefully leo doesn't give hsi DGP's any trouble today .. have a great day guys!

Re: 10/13 Leo AMPS 157

Glad to hear that Leo is doing ok after the dental. I also had a tough time giving the bupe to Simon. What an ordeal but it definitely helps with the pain. It is great that your grandparents can give Leo the bupe while you are at work. Hope his little mouth feels better today.

Re: 10/13 Leo AMPS 157

I can't wait to hear that Leo is catching and eating his mices again!!! I wonder how long it will take for him to be able to actually eat what he catches?

Re: 10/13 Leo AMPS 157

Tracy, I would let the vet know his face is swollen--Are yoiu giving the bupe on the same side as the extraction?--Poor Baby, hope this clears up by tomorrow--Have a good Fursday--Hugs from Us!

Roni, oh gosh no, not the same side as his extractions. I make very sure its always on the left side. I know i've gotten swollen from extractions so i just figured it was normal. Should i really phone his vet about it?

Ann, Leo has Petsecure insurance (sister company to VPI!) so most of his dental should be covered thankfully.

Patty, I've gotta say i'm a little worried about him eating mousies. I will make sure to tell my mom and dad not to let him eat his catch, but my parents really baby and spoil Leo so i'm not sure they will listen to me. Sigh.......grandparents.

Georgia, i was really hoping he would be ok and they won't have to give Leo too many doses of bupe and glad to know that Leo isn't the only one that's hard to dose!! Do you brush Simon's teeth?

Thanks Angela, Linda and Devon for stopping by!

Well good deed of the week...maybe even the year is done!!

I was just at petsmart buying Leo fuds supplies for the week and ran into a woman in the FF aisle. We got to talking about FF and turns out shes got a diabetic kitty as well! He (Garfield I think) went into remission once already on lantus but has since relapsed due to temptation treats. Her kitty is on 8 units of lantus and 7 units of caninsulin :o OMG her poor cat is getting 3 shots a day. So anyway I told her all about the FDMB, gave her mine and Leo's username and she said she would check us out! Her name is Loretta so please look out for her, hopefully she will join us and we can help her kitty. I also gave her the LC good FF her kitty can eat. I'm pretty pleased with my good deed......yippie!

Great job, Tracy!! Hopefully Garfield and Loretta will find us!

Poor Leo, with his puffy face. I hope unpuffs soon. It might not be a bad idea to contact the vet, just in case.

To answer your question in Trix's condo about adequan; Adequan is a prescription-only injection medication for arthritis (and, apparently it also works well for some bladder issues, too). Mario's arthritis was beyond cosequin and dasuquin...he needed something stronger. We started it in June, and it has really worked wonders for him. Dyana recently started J.D. on it, too, and Patty was looking into it for Champ as well. I can't remember if anyone else here is using it, but at this point I swear by it...Mario has done such a turn-around.

I hope your work travels aren't to grueling. I'm sure Leo will be missing you!

Hi Tracy:

I'm so sorry Leo is not totally himself yet and his face is swollen. Poor baby! One thing Claudia told me is to give them a little bit of butter after the bupe...then it's not so bad. I know you will worry about him while you are gone but DGP have done such a great job, too. You are very lucky and I know you know that.

You are so wonderful to help Loretta. I do hope we see her here. I cannot imagine why any vet would put a cat on lantus and caninsulin!!!

Have a safe trip back to work and maybe Leo WILL be catching mousies when you get back.
