Not much new. I wasn't able to get a midcycle check in during the day, but started collecting PM data. I know the .5U marked U-100 3/10cc syringes are ideal, unfortunately all I have are 1U marked U-100 3/10cc syringes. Does anyone have any tips on measuring .25U with these syringes until I can get the .5U marked? I saw on the New to the Group page a really nice diagrams for measuring .25U when using the .5U syringes.

there are a couple of things you can do to help be consistent with a dose.

you can draw up something like tea, coke or colored water in a used syringe and keep it for an example to compare to.

you can mark a sample syringe with tape and compare to it.

you can draw up one unit and squeeze out drops, one at a time (hold your syringe vertically and let them roll out slowly) while counting to see how many drops are in one unit, then divide that number by 4 to get how many are in a quarter unit. then each dose draw up one unit and squeeze out the unneeded insulin to get to the .25u.

some people use calipers to figure out the dose - i haven't done that so i'll leave that to others to describe. some syringe brands are more accurate than others in the lines marked on the outside that you are measuring by.

the important thing is to give a consistent amount, so however you can get to that is a good method! i liked the Terumo Syringes and ordered them from American Diabetes Wholesale. If you go through mrrebates.com you get a percentage back after you've spent enough $$.
