When I came home from work yesterday, she was sleeping in a newish hiding spot. Guessing she still doesn't feel well. We've got 4 more doses of her ulcer meds, but I'll probably be calling another vet to check for infection. There are just enough behavioral things off that I don't think she's okay. But even her usual vet is booked up until a week from now.

I am unsurprised by higher BGs. Although it's only a tiny bit of MC gravy, the Sucralfate pretty much has sugar in its name has been known to worsen diabetes in humans and she's getting it 3x a day. Hopefully we'll be seeing things come down after tomorrow.

Poor Chloe. Your regular vet won’t push her in? That’s a shame. My vet is always booked way in advance but I’ve been with him so long he will see me if an emergency. What caused the ulcers? Location?

I haven't called - just tried to book online. It's a chain vet hospital so I'm not thrilled with keeping her there. They would probably let me do a drop-off, but that is sooooo stressful for her.

There's no guarantee it is an ulcer. She vomited blood on Saturday night and we took her to the ER vet, and this was what they gave us. Her vitals all looked good, but they didn't do any imaging, and I was too frazzled to ask them to test for infection while I was there. She has not vomited any more blood since Saturday and she's still eating fine.

There's a cat-only vet 10 miles away that I would like to try. I also have a mobile vet appointment booked for next week, but I probably shouldn't wait that long given her hiding.

I would see if you can drop off urine sample in the meantime. I know it's not perfectly sterile, but it's at least a head start on a culture if something is wrong. Poor girl! Is her breathing ok?

Yeah, breathing seems fine. The only indication I have that she's not feeling well is the hiding and the higher BG.

I will call and see if they would let me do a take-home test. That's a good idea. Unfortunately the cat-only clinic wouldn't be able to take her as a new patient until 11/9. Not waiting that long!

They will not send me home with a kit unless they see her first :banghead:

But they did have a cancellation and can see her tomorrow afternoon. It's just a bummer because I'd really like to be done with this vet.

So we head to the vet tomorrow to be checked for an infection.

If there is something, I don’t want Clavamox again. What should I ask for? I remember seeing Baytril named on other posts. Other things? I want to be prepared to not just accept what they keep giving us.
