Bernie was super hungry around her +11. She started nibbling me, then started chewing on anything and everything she could find. Usually, when she gets like that, she vomits within about 5 minutes if she doesn’t get some food in her belly.

I checked her BGL and it was 229 mg/dL (after a 5-hr fast). I gave her 0.2oz of food, just enough to settle her belly. I’m hoping it didn’t artificially inflate her AMPS too much. She looks like she was sliding down - not sure how much further she would’ve gone over the hour. I don’t suspect she would’ve gone much lower, but I’ll keep a close eye on her for the first part of the cycle to make sure I didn’t make too big of an oopsie :woot:

Hope everyone has a fantastic Monday! :cat::smuggrin:

Good Morning Megan,

If you have some freeze dried chicken or salmon on hand that's always my 'go to' when Luci is driving me crazy pre-test/feed/shoot schedule. She wants her food and she wants it NOW...and most times she'll be satisfied with a couple of pieces of freeze dried food. We use it for treats too so she likes them a great deal. I get them from Amazon.

Also comes in chicken flavor.

Hopefully .2 oz was just enough, but not so much as to cause a food bump...it wouldn't have been much anyway...

You guys have a great day!

Do you have an autofeeder? I put overnight snacks for Butters in an autofeeder, including a small one (.25oz) at +9 or +9.5, so she never goes very long without having somethiing in her tummy. At most, she goes three hours without food.

Once you have collected enough BG data to understand what kind of food bump Bernie gets, the waiting two hours without food becomes less important. It is extremely important only when you don't yet know how much of a rise the kitty gets from eating. I know I have enough data for Butters so if she needs a little something at +10 or +11, I give her something.

Have a great day!

Ooo, I'll have to check that out! Thank you!! Her food is Tiki Cat, which is zero carb, but she still gets a little food bump from it. Hopefully I didn't jinx her - her +1 is still trending down. :woot:

That’s such a good idea! Plus, Bernie’s PS numbers always seem to be a little better if she eats between +7 to +9. I’ll have to figure out a way to keep her foodie brother out of it. They currently each have their own covered bowl that’s registered to their microchips (they all have different diets, my spoiled bebbies ;)), but I bet I could find a way to block his chunky booty from getting to it LOL
