I am still saddened to think that Zener has crossed to the Bridge. I will miss you Z-Man. Such a sad day for all of us in LL. Anne and Liz you were always so supportive of me, and my efforts with Mannie. You are truly incredible beans. I wish you good memories of all that made Zener the remarkable kitty that he was. I hope those memories are of comfort for you. I know mine of Mannie are for me, and I hope it is the same for you. Fly free little one, none of us will ever forget you.

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, and a great week. The days with the boys have been good ones! We have been very busy, that part of life has not changed. Will it ever? ;-) NOPE!!
What a BUSY week! I still think/know I will always prefer it that way.
We have been swimming, and hiking, a day on the river, an urban park and the beach. We have had lunches at rivers edge, car camping some too, and on grassy lawns picnic style. These Fall days are wonderful ones. Once again Nicholas, on the day of our river trip tells me after we were done that "this was the best day ever!" you gotta love that. William's face continues to light up when he sees the outdoors, he can't get out of his car seat fast enough. Even when here a the house he will go and sit by the slider and watch the outdoors. He ad Lola, both wishing they were there. Life is good!
Fall is upon the boys, with their scheduling and activities. We are still fine tuning all, with some minor adjustments. Last week actually went fairly well, almost better than the last. William has taken well to the pool, Nicholas is enjoying school. YAY!!!. The kitties are into Fall too. There sure is alot of napping going on, and seeking out of the fleece blankets. Even Lola has mellowed!
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Night were our swimming days this week. That's alot of pool time! William went Monday and Thursday, Nicholas Monday, Wednesday and Friday nght. We are so glad that the big pool has reopened! It continues to be Nichola's favorite pool, though he does give those slides a good workout. Nicholas still loves going, and continues to do well in the pool. He's been making lots of new friends when he goes. it's fun to see him connect up with kids when he gets there. Nicholas and I will continue to swim on Friday night, as he so loves that experience, at a pool that is not his normal pool. They have been very fun times for him. We have not seen the guard that worked with him since that time, but I keep hoping we will. I am seriously toying with the idea of seeing if I can schedule a private lesson thing with her on the days it is just Nicholas and I, as he really likes her. We shall see. It was a fun swim time for him Monday. He and I and his Grandpa on dis dad's side had lots of fun doing just about all he could do there. We even got some instruction in amongst all that play. We are still trying to "convince" Nicholas that swim lessons would be great, but he is adamant that he does not want to do them. silly boy! All in good time. He saw his Favorite guard on Wednesday. She couldn't swim with him, but she did stop and talk to him. He had been doing jump ins with another girl, maybe 5, who just couldn't do pencil jump. Little guy was showing her how to do them, over and over again until she finally made one.
The guard asked him if he was teaching jumping class now. He said yes, he was helping her. He has a really good one now, straight in. That got a round of applause from all within ear shot. so, great day for him in the pool. He had a blast, we worked on a few things too. I continue teach him what I can, review what he learned from the day he swam with one of the guards, and marvel at how well he does on his own. Nicholas has been trying very hard to swim what one considers a normal swim: big arms, kicks. Last night he made several laps in the beach area and hot tub, trying to do just that. Not too badly either! Pool time with William was great. He has taken to this just like his brother did. He loves all he did. We continue to do all we can just to let him try everything. We even had a few dunks under water, those he didn't mind, no fuss, no tears, no fear. I put him through the same "drills" I did with Nicholas, we stayed about an hour, until he was tired. We had a few tries with blowing bubbles in the water, with alot of success. It is so great to see that he doesn't mind putting his face in the water, even did a few on his own. Success I think. This should be fun. He's mastered the climb in and out of the pool too. Getting used to be times we do some underwater stuff. LOL. The big hit there
Thursday was the slide. Surprising in that all the water works was on, so one really gets wet when they go down the thing. Interesting that he kept going back, even when he was being bombarded with water. I've said it before, but no doubt he will like this as much as his brother does. A very nice day there for him. GO NICK! GO WILLIAM!
Nicholas still looks forward to our after swim Friday Night Burger Feast
That is just so fun: burgers and fries, just him and me, with lots of fun stories. He was so happy to see that burger and fries combo show up, just like always. Somehow I think that is part of the magic of Friday night swims: that he gets burgers etc after his swim. Yesterday we again talked about our week, That days river trip, trips to city parks and urban rivers, and future visit to the Skykomish River in Gold Bar, and Skykomish. He was really into that discussion, as he does remember last year in October when we went to the same river, and watched the big fish do their annual run. I so hope to repeat that again this year. We tried again this Friday, but did not see any fish, so perhaps we need to wait a week or so. He still talks about his camping trip with his family, and wants to go back.
What fun time, talking through mouthfuls full of burgers and fries.
The drive home was such a hoot. I wrote this last week, but he remembered that drive, and wanted to sing again: remember that song "on top of spaghetti all covered with cheese, I lost my meatball when somebody sneezed?" We sang that all the way home, his and Bear. I pretended to be Bear, who couldn't get the song right, kept getting the wrong things, like lot dogs instead of a meatball. Nicholas just laughed and laughed all the way home. What a fun drive!
Monday morning, after the boys swim time, I spent the afternoon
. I went to Snoqualmie Pass, did a section of the PCT that leads to Lodge Lake. I needed something that was more or less close to home, a short hike, as my time was limited only having the afternoon. This one seemed to fit the bill. That is a very nice trail, lakes are pretty. Hiking part of the PCT is alwyas a treat. The only drawback is that you hike, for a bit, under the ski lifts. I really didn't mind that, as that was where most of the fall color was. And then there is that never ending drone of the I90 freeway, which is right next to the trail. That part I could have done without. But all in all, made for a great afternoon. Fall color has come to the Pass, it was very pretty: lots of red and oranges and yellows. Even the Mini Road Trip drive there was full of fall color, with the potential for lots more. Drive was nice, just way too much traffic going home. An hour drive took me two. Sheshhh on that. Oh well, I still had a great time!
Tuesday I met my son Anthony for breffis. YUM! we continue to go to the same restaurant. It is a great place, awesome food, good price! It has proven to eb such a great way to catch up on things. Tuesday was also Nicholas's pre-school field trip to a pumpkin patch. I went along to help out, with his mom and William. The other grandparents came to. Our visit to the Pumpkin Patch was a huge success. "The Farm" in Snohomish was so well prepared for the onslaught of so many little pre-schoolers. There had to have been 10 or more schools there. All was well organized, and they were very good at keeping things moving, and the kids happy. We had a great time. Both boys cam home with pumpkins and smiles on their faces. very cool!
Wednesday afternoon, after Nicholas's swim we were off to a river park in Bothell. We had such fun there a week or so ago that we decided to go back. They too have a nice playground area , and well as a good river trail walk, with a few access points where the boys can get down to waters edge. It is always fun to be able to do that there, as the ducks come and visit every time. We got lucky with the weather that day too, as it had been fogged in all morning. By time time we made the park, the sun was beginning to show, and stayed with us the whole time we were there. It was sunny enough and warm enough that Nicholas was able to wade out into the river some too. He just loves to be able to get into the river! Nicholas wanted to walk some of the trail too. The fall colors there are starting to show. Really nice! William was content with all the sticks and rocks and fallen leaves he found. Way too funny, but cool too. Just like last week, we brought some food for the ducks. Nicholas had such fun feeding them. He had quite the audience. William was busy chanting: " ducks, ducks, ducks, ducks! " Just like last week too!
Thursday Afternoon, after William's swim, and Nicholas's school we were off to Juanita Beach. The weather was great by then, the afternoon was turning into a warm afternoon, like 70 (!!), so off we went! We did all of what he goes there for. Lots of play, and it was warm enough that both boys could swim and/or play in the water. Both had such fun with that. William continues to love the very small waves, and had a blast. SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH!   WHAT FUN! WHAT A MESS he was after that.   They both were! William has really developed a fondness for it all, he just gets so excited when he sees the parks, the beaches, the rivers, He is so very much like his brother when he was that age. He just loved it. Nicholas did a very good job too making sure little bro was doing OK. We also had a small picnic after our beach and park time. All around - really a terrific day. I bet both those boys slept well that night. AWESOME time at the beach.
Friday was our travel day.
We affectionately called it [Bear and Bear II's Road Trip. We ended up on the Skykomish and Beckler Rivers, and the boy's had a blast. Weather it was great too. Sunshine all day long. We were elated as it was so foggy at home! We went to Index too, where the road has been washed out, hoping for some fish on the run, only found one, a goner. Nicholas had fun looking for them, Guess we were a bit early for the fish, so maybe try again next week. We also stopped in at Beckler River, a spot where Nicholas had seen a few weeks back pools filled with very small fish. We didn't find any yesterday, but sure had fun looking for them. I really do like that spot. Nicholas kept telling me over and over how much he likes that spot, so no doubt we will go back until we do see them. It is a good spot, as he can get up close and personnel, with the fish, and in the river somewhat. I really hope they are right on the projections of a big run. that would be so great to see and experience. it does the heart good, and the soul, to see those two boys come alive when they are in places like this. Beckler River is gorgeous, but full of boulders etc, and it, like trout Creek last week, takes a it of maneuvering for him. He was so adamant that he be able to get on top of the river, so to speak. It was great to watch him be careful, get though the rocks, analyze before he moved etc. Really great to see a three year old pick the safest route. William just loved it all. LOL: a battle to get him "dry" - four changes of clothes, same as last week. haha. anyways... a really great day. Nicholas tells me after we were done that "this was the best day ever!" you gotta love that. A couple of miles in from the Index cutoff there is a small pullout that offers a stellar view of the river. We stopped there last week too before going home so that William could get some food, Nicholas ended up eating too, but point is; I sat there with them both, watched the little guy as he ate and watched the river. Nicholas asks if we can stay there for a bit. so we did, maybe 15 minutes while he just munched on crackers and watched the river flow. The smile on his face was awesome. I had wondered if the response would be the same as last week, nice to see that it was. so..... excellent day.
Friday night also found me at my youngest son's band gig, at the studio, show venue that they workout off, Studio 7 in Seattle. The was lovingly booked a Seattle's "metal Fest" with about 8 bands on the venue. I was grateful that they, Fallen Angels, played late enough that I could still take Nicholas swimming and have enough time to make the show. It ended up being a very longggggggggggggg day for me, not home until after midnight.  Worth the effort though as Matt plays a mean lead guitar. I had a blast! Sorry the photos are so dark.... these places aren't exactly known for their adequate lighting!
Normalcy in MusketeerVille!
The kitties are all doing well. Not too much new with them... Fall mode is here, they are bunkering down, but still yearning for the great outdoors when the sun is out. Elsa still ventures out, and when out she doesn't stay long. Bug could care less, Lola is ALWAYS grounded, and always wants OUT. We will have the deck door replaced soon, still "om order" (sheshhh!) step one on the catio development. I still haven't done much more than that. The week before I was able to price out what I really would like to build for the kitties, and had a severe case of sticker shock.  So back to the drawing board on that one.  Lola, I have not forgotten your catio.... but you may have to wait a bit longer. ;-) Nicholas continues to talk about Mannie. They have been such good discussions. Last week I remember writing how at one point he told me that he really wishes Mannie could come home. ;-) He did this week too, and just like last week my thoughts were "Nicholas, so do I".
For fun: some shots of Nicholas, William and Lola, as they watched some "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse"
Have a great caturday everyone. Sorry this post it late today. Sorry too I missed everyone's condos yesterday too. Time this morning, and the days, have gotten away from me. At least the shopping is done, and the laundry.
I am off in a few for an afternoon walk in the woods. The day has turned warm, just not very sunny, and a little WET. WOOT!
KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN cat_pet_icon
