Good Morning LL,

Well my fussy kitty continues to be fussy  I was at a pet food store yesterday and found Natures Variety raw food and thought we'd give it a try, he ate 2 medallions yesterday and i tried giving him another 2 this morning and the verdict is in, Leo does not like it! Sigh  I had so hoped he would love it, i bought the chicken and beef. My petfooddirect order cannot come soon enough.

Otherwise we had a good test and shoot this morning. Leo did a quick tour of duty of the yard but its soggy and rainy here this morning so all he accomplished is muddy feet, which he's tracked in everywhere

I go back to work tomorrow, so we head to DGP's today. BTB for us for a bit, then we'll check in later. Have a great day everyone!

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266

Why oh why do they act like they love a new fuds for one meal, only to never touch the stuff again???? Crazy kitties!!!

Enjoy your BTB!!

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266

Oh bummer on the fuds. They are so picky. Is it really time for you to leave already? I bet Leo isn't happy about it. We miss you when you are gone so I can just imagine how Leo feels. Have a great week at work!!

I answered you in T's condo but here you go in case you don't get back to it:

Tracy - Tarragon did foam at the mouth with the Tramadol. My fingers are all cut up from trying to pill him with it. The bupe is pretty much tasteless. Our vet said that really the goal is not to get them to swallow it but for it to soak into their gums so they don't flavor it. It is just a little syringe the size of his insulin syringe without the needle. I just slip it in the side of his mouth. Easy peasy compared to the Clavamox and the Tramadol. I don't know why they didn't give him a covenia shot to begin with. Arghhh.

I got new pjs, new workout outfit, roses and candy from DH. Mason went to Bath & Body and got me some Sweat Pea lotion, body spray, and body butter. My favorite stuff.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266

Yup, that's the pattern: lip-smackin' good the first time and then thumbs down (if they had thumbs)! It's a good thing you didn't buy a lot of it!!

Tracy, have a good trip back to the field. Leo, have a good stay with DGpa. Rusty hopes you will catch lots of mice.

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266

Hi Tracy, sorry Leo did not like the NV raw chicken. I guess it was yuck from Leo! I think it was so so with Maggie. Enjoy your btd. Scritches to Leo.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266

Hi guys .. well bummer that leo did not like his new food .. Perhaps if it just came in mouse flavored? Sorry to hear about the mud everywhere .. good thing he's cute .. have a great day!

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

Mouse flavored anything would be 2 thumbs up! I left his raw food in his dish and he's eating it now, i wonder if it was too cold for him to eat? I still have to get him to try the beef flavour. I was at a loss of what to feed him this morning and left 2 different kinds of fuds in his feeder plus his raw food and he's eaten everything  What a cat!

I woke up from my BTB and looked outside and its snowing :o  I opened the door and Leo just stood there just as shocked as i was i think.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

NV's frozen raw also comes in kibble-shape. Maybe fussy Leo would like those better than a whole medallion. Do you smush the medallion up into small pieces before serving? You can warm up a thawed medallion in warm water for a minute or two. My civies just eat the medallions straight from the fridge. The kibble shaped raw thaws in a few minutes at room temperature and you can warm up up in water.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

Darn, Devon beat me to it. I wanted to say, too bad it doesn't come in mouse flavor. :-D

Hi Tracy, I'm glad Leo's eaten his fuds. Maybe it smells more appetizing, not so cold.

No hunting in the rainy muddy yard, huh? It's nasty here too.

Have a safe trip back to work, Tracy. Lucky that Leo loves his grandparents :-D .

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

Leo sees snow!! So, has he gone out in it yet? Can`t Wait to hear about this

Gosh, I hear you about the food... so much trying and trying, and then he eats when he's good and ready and hungry. We're having that over here too.

I laughed so hard about the mouse flavored anything!!!

We're waiting for the snow update Leo...where DO you find mice in the snow?

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

Wow, snow! It's on its way to us too. Maybe the snow will encourage a flurry of mouse activity and they will be distracted by the weather, easy pickings for Mr Leo!

We must have bought every single kind of cat food in town when we were switching Zener from kibble to wet. He would do the same thing, eat the first meal like it was THE BEST thing ever. I wasn't as smart as you though, and would run out and buy a case, never to be eaten again. Our local no-kill animal shelter was the great beneficiary of our food trials and tribulations. Safe travels to work and happy times for Leo with DGP. :-D

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

I thaw the raw out overnight in the fridge, mush it down a bit, then add warm water to warm it up a bit. Neko would probably wolf it down frozen, but civie Theo likes his raw a bit warmer and in smaller chunks. It requires a bit more chewing than regular food so takes a bit of getting used to, except of course for Neko who swallows large chunks. It'll be interesting to try the beef. Some cats prefer raw red meat, although it shouldn't be a staple. For the first little while, I used to have to put freeze dried chicken dust on Theo's raw chicken! Good luck in the food quest.

Yikes on the snow! We don't get it very often but I get the dirtiest look from Neko when she sees it. "You expect me to go out in that! Shovel a path for me already".

I find that the NV raw medallions take a day and a half to fully thaw.

Leroy has issues with chunks so his raw needs to be mushed up into tiny pieces  Even so, he occasionally eats too fast and winds gagging ohmygod_smile

Leroy only eats NV beef with the occasional duck. Should I be feeding him more duck and less beef? Emma rotates between chicken, beef, and duck. Leroy used to eat chicken and lamb but one day decided he didn't like them anymore  He will eat the pieces of chicken cartilage and scraps Emma leaves in her bowl. I haven't tried any of the other NV raw varieties. Kind of don't want to spend the money on a bag that neither civie will eat and I can't return it to the store or get a refund nailbite_smile

For the first little while, I used to have to put freeze dried chicken dust on Theo's raw chicken!

I had to do that to get Emma eating raw food. I used freeze dried raw instead of treats.

Leo, maybe you can convince the bean to sprinkle yum yums on your raw food

Here's the NV raw web site: http://www.instinctpetfood.com/instinct-raw-food-dogs-and-cats Looks like you can get trial sized bags of the kibble shaped Raw Bites now.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

Wow!!! Snow in October. We are doing good if we get a tiny inch of ice slush between January and April. JL looks at it like what the heck is that through his window cause he is blinded by bright white.

Hope all goes well for you and Leo at DGPs.

Re: 10/10 Leo AMPS 266, +4 196

Well Leo beat me to my suggestion but Leo could change his mind again so ...
I was gonna say don't give up. Shadow did the same thing but I rotate it now and she 'll eat it. She just doesn't want it meal after meal.
I think little by little she'll eat it more often, she just needs to get used to it.
I thaw it out in a glass dish in the fridge the day before and I usually chop it up ( havent tried the pellets yet) and microwave it for 10
seconds. Not enough to cook it but she likes it better with the chill knocked off.
And I'll sprinkle anything when she turns her nose up and then she'll eat it when I add stuff. freeze dried salmon crumbs or fortiflora or bonita flakes.
I've even done all three. ( she's so smart to get me to do that. )

I'll take your snow. I'm ready for it. :-D

He ate the beef NV raw and loved it, i fed him a medallion this afternoon and 1 for supper and he licked his dish clean both times. I guess i won't overdo it and feed him it all the time. We got out to DGP's and he found some kibble of course, i fed him a snack and figured i'd crush up some kibble and sprinkle a bit on his food, he sure is a happy kitty now and keeps asking for more.

Snow in October yes! Its normal for here, it snowed off and on all afternoon, it didn't stick around tho, since its not below freezing. I'm sure it will be full blown winter up at work already, but i'm ready for it.

Well i'm signing off for now, see everyone in a week!
