Re: 10/10 Jean Luc amps 447

looking at your ss, I suspect that is a bounce from a drop to a green yesterday ( while you were at work )
That blank area where you aren't able to test just looks like where it happened and Jean Luc seems to be quite capable of large drops in bg.
I would tell you to go back and look at Poopy's condo today for what I suggested to her about rearranging your schedule so you were able to get
a +2 on workdays before you have to go to work. I know that's hard and undesireable to lose more sleep but then you'd have more info
on where Jean Luc is heading every morning and know what foods to leave out for the day. Shasta's bean does this to manipulate how quickly
her cat drops.

Hope Jean Luc drops a little slower today.

Early tests are great IF your schedule will permit.

What you're seeing are bounces. JL is a bouncy cat and unfortunately, JL's liver is a bit of a diva. Cats bounce until they don't. Be patient. JL's liver needs to get used to spending time in more normal numbers. Once the bounce clears, let's see what Jean Luc does with his numbers.

Re: 10/10 Jean Luc amps 447

Got a little break..

Unfortunately, my schedule doesn't permit early testing Mon - Thur. I work about an hour away and DH and I carpool daily. I am doing well to give 5am and 5pm shots.

Yesterday morning, I left him an extra .75oz FF Classic Turkey before I left for work. He also had his normal .75oz available at +3.5 and +7. He didn't eat his +3.5 or his +7 yesterday while I was at work, but did eat all the food put out on his plate. Last night, he didn't have a huge appetite prior to his shot, but did eat all his food (except the +7). It just took him a little longer. I tested him at +7 and he was 420.

Trying to figure this little guy out. He is pooping (albeit sometimes outside the LB), peeing (no ketones this am), purring, and playing a little bit. This am he displayed some old JL behaviour and hopped in the bath tub for a little drink. Monday night he actually jumped in the bed with us for loving before we went to sleep. DH commented this am "seems like little tiger is getting some of old self back". Made me smile, but also frustrated me because I feel I have such a long way to go to get him regulated.

Hope all kitties are in good order with 5P's displaying properly.

Hi guys .. so sorry to see JL bouncing this high .. I know how frustrating it can be not knowing how long regulation may take .. we danced the dance with mocha for two years before she even hinted at regulation .. but we got there, and you will too I'm sure .. just hang in there! Have a great day!

Re: 10/10 Jean Luc amps 447

It would be so much easier if this process were quick. One of the many things I've learned to appreciate is patience. Our cats have their own agendas. And, they are in charge. You're doing a great job.

FWIW, as cats start to see better numbers, their appetites begin to decrease. When they are initially diabetic, they typically have a ravenous appetite because the glucose produced by their metabolism isn't getting into the cells -- it's floating around in the bloodstream -- so they're hungry all the time. As insulin is working and numbers improve, more glucose is getting into the cells. As a result, they are less hungry. I would be attentive, though, just so you're sure this is an effect of JL's numbers being better vs. the early signs of something else effecting his appetite.

Bounce seems to be clearing quickly this time. JL has actually gained a little more weight. :-D
