Happy Friday. We continue to send our deepest condolences, prayers, and love to Anne and Liz. Also many healing vines to all who need them and cheering Shadow on with his OTJ trial.

It's not been a good morning for LBG. Well....it started out great and she was happy and extremely playful. I thought since it was so easy to get Tobey onto raw food and I've been wanting to transition her, I'd give it a try. The last time I took some of Tobey's raw food (Primal turkey) and mixed it in with her food, she vomited. I thought it was just a coincidence. Evidently not because I mixed 1/2 tsp of raw turkey in with her breffis this morning and at +1, it all came up. All of it and she acted like her little tummy did not feel good. I'm sure it didn't. I think that is why the huge spike up to pink because she had been really flat. I waited a bit and fed her just her food and she kept down a +1.5 meal and all her food since then. By +2.5, she was playing again. I did give her a tiny drop of R but it would not have brought her down into blue in four hours so I'm positive the pukus and tummy ache spiked her BG. :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH: Now I'm afraid to try any raw again although she ate raw the first year we had her (and then just stopped). If I do try it again, it will be a tiny bit on it's own, not mixed with her food, not near a meal, and not turkey. Tobey is eating turkey, venison, pheasant, and rabbit so I'll just try a tiny bit of one of those. My poor baby girl......all my fault.

She had a good night last night especially after the vet visit. A nice blue day yesterday so I hope she will continue to do well now.

Lucky for her, Lupita is not here today. As you might recall, she had a car wreck two weeks ago. Her car was totaled and so she and her son have been sharing his car but he had to work today. I know she is trying to get a new, used car; she just didn't get very much for her old one that was wrecked. Unfortunately for LBG and Tobey, a plumber is coming tout de suite to change out the fixtures in the guest bathroom so they are shortly to be made prisoners in our bedroom again. But it shouldn't take him long.

Hope you have a great day. I'll BBL.

Re: 10/10 Gracie AMPS 161 +2 347 sick +4 266 +6 166

Oh, poor Gracie. What a way to start her day. I know just how you feel - trying to do something good for them, and it backfires (like my getting Sasha vaccinated and her ending up with a sarcoma because of it!). The guilt is terrible.

I'm glad she made a quick recovery, once she had the yucky stuff out of her system.

No Lupita Friday stories? Oh dear. I hope she can find a car she can afford soon. I'm sure it's tough on her, having to share with her son. Car wrecks are always a major hassle - even if they aren't your fault.

Have a great Friday, Marje.

So sorry to hear about the vomiting. We tried Primal with Jersey (two different flavors), and she vomited it up every time. The spokesperson at Primal told me that it was simply because the food was so rich in protein and to give it time, but I figured it was best just to go ahead and switch to something else. It was too nerve-wracking to deal with food that was making her sick at the same time she was going through the insulin routine. Interestingly, Jersey will also vomit if she eats too many freeze-dried Orijen treats. Something about the dehydration aspect of the food, maybe? I don't know. :? I just have to be really careful about only giving her a couple of treats at a time.

Sending lots of tummy vines for Gracie!

(((Marje))), don't beat yourself up. You are trying something that would be better for Gracie, but it's not working for her. You won't know unless you try. Sounds like she's right back on track already. :-D :-D Thank you for thinking of us. I liked your comment in Charlie's condo that our GA kitties stay with us for a long time to comfort us. :-D

Poor Gracie.... At least she turn her butt around and started back down the ladder. Hugs and tummy rubs LBG.

I'm sorry the raw food made Gracie sick. I'm glad she recovered and was able to eat her own food. Don't be too hard on yourself. You were trying to do something good for her.

Aww sweet Gracie. I agree with the other aunties: there's no way you could've predicted LBG's tummy wouldn't have liked the raw turkey. I'm glad she's feeling better.
I hope Tobey and Gracie were good supervisors for the plummer. ;-)

Thank you all....Tricia, Shelly, Anne, Kathie, Carla, and Josie for stopping by today and helping me not feel like such a bad mama. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Shelly...thanks, especially for letting me know about that. Gracie has never had a sensitive tummy; Tobey is the one that has been more prone to have diarrhea if I switch his food and he's eating the raw with no problem at all. But I have to believe it was the food esp now hearing Jersey had the same problems. Big difference is that Gracie will not try to plot my demise for my little goof

Gracie and Tobey were sequestered in our bedroom while the plumber was here....which was 4.5 hours. But they did just fine. They have their condos right by our back door and so it's almost like being on the catio. It was nap time anyway. It gave me a chance to open the door to the catio that goes into the yard, haul all the furniture out, hose the flagstone down and scrub it, scrub the condos, and put it all back together with them none the wiser.

Aw, poor Gracie...but I agree with the others - no beating yourself up about it. You never know what is going to upset their little tummies! Heck, I'm even nervous trying out a little treat anymore, but we have to try - especially when something should, in theory, be better for them. I'm glad she's feeling better, and I am sure she doesn't blame you!

That is an impressive PMPS, to, Gracie...surf safely tonight!!

Jersey has never had a sensitive stomach either, which is what really bugs me. I don't know why the dehydrated food affects her the way it does.

And just a heads up: I intercepted an email from LBG to Jerz asking for some pointers on plotting. It wasn't about the food, though. It was something about Lupita, plumbers, and closed catios. ;-)

Hi Marje... So sad to hear about Gracie's tummy issues with the raw turkey. I agree with the others... Stop beating yourself up for trying to do something good for Miss Gracie. Looks like she has recovered pretty quickly from it and back on track!
Hope the plumber will be quick with the work so the babies can get out of prison quickly and Happy weekend to you !

Thanks, Amy. I know she knows I wasn't trying to upset her tummy...she's an understanding and sweet girl. :-D

Shelly....uh oh...what am I going to do with her? I tried to freeze her email account.

Looks like Gracie is enjoying all the colours today. Hope you get SOME sleep tonight. ;-)

Some kitties don't have acid enough tummies to process raw well when they first start it. Gracie's tummy may need a little help at first. If another protein doesn't work, you may need to give her tummy support. I've heard of people giving yoghurt for a couple of weeks before starting raw and I've seen digestive enzymes recommended for a while before starting raw. I had to start Theo on slow amounts or he'd chuck it up right away. Learned that the hard way with kangaroo which is dark red and great at staining. Adding warm water to warm it up also helps.

Poor Gracie and poor you. Maybe raw just isn't for her. It certainly didn't hurt her BG though! What do you use to scrub the condos? I've never cleaned mine I hate to admit. I hope you get some sleep tonight.
