Asia is feeling pretty great today (and last night). She "burgled" at me (a noise she makes) and woke me up for pets in the middle of the night (she hasn't done that in awhile). She also did a spaz cat down the hall (giant eyeballs, pause to stare at you, then dart off in another direction) AND played with da bird toy. She will play with her toy, lazily, from a reclined position pretty much every day, but she chased it today!!! She even scoffed at eating breakfast when I put it out, "eh, I'll get to it later", that is way more normal for her than eating some of it right away, which she had been doing. Not the best thing for trying to give her insulin, but a positive because it's more of a pre diabetic behavior for her.

Her numbers don't necessarily show it, but she's feeling "younger" than she has since being diagnosed, I'll take that small success! :cat: ...now maybe her numbers will follow suit.

Even with the high numbers, I told myself the drops (180 pts) the juice is working and cinched up my patience pants! Good for Asia. Hope she continues down

121?! I'm over the moon. :bighug:Would this be consider her nadir, roughly? I know it's not an exact time, should I keep testing every hour or so to see when she starts going back up? It looks like her body & mind knew it was going to be a good day before her blood glucose did! I think these new syringes are helping with dose accuracy, the ones I had before were pretty obviously sloppy printed.

Drops are a great sign, she hasn't had too much of that in the past few days. I think I'd be so much calmer about this process and laid back about giving it time to work itself out if she wasn't CRF and 21 years old. It's hard. :(

You could check again in an hour or two. Anywhere from +2 to +12 could be the nadir. ECID

I had to wait about an hour later than her usual time to dose her this morning, since she decided not to eat a bite for that long. Do I give her the dose tonight at her regular time, or move it up an hour? Perhaps in between those two times? Her numbers are such a relief today and I really don't want to mess that up by giving insulin at the wrong time.

If you had to stall, you can move it back 15 minutes each cycle or 30 minutes a day. Shooting early acts as an increase if you move it more than what's recommended.

Thank you so much! Exactly the info I needed. I printed everything out and made myself a binder for quick reference, I must have missed where it talks about stalling and dosing time afterwards.

It's great to see those blues but even better that she's feeling so good today. Don't be surprised if she might bounce a little. Large drops can cause that even more so then lower numbers...paws crossed though:) Don't worry about remembering everything...but here's the post on moving shot times for your reference.

Thank you so much for this, I have not seen it before, it must be buried. Can this be a sticky?

PMPS is 710, maybe. It was 710 and I tested again thinking it might be wrong, got 741 that time, tested with control solution, was in range, tested right before her shot, 620. I picked the middle number (710) for my records, I guess they are all "accurate enough" since they are within 20% of each other...that seems scary, especially if it were low numbers, that it could actually be 20% less than what's showing up. This is the bounce thing again, huh? Well she had an awesome day and hopefully will settle down this bounce quickly. I'm still thankful for the several hours today where her blood sugar did not look like she fell in to a giant bag of kibble and gorged herself. :confused:

Asia looks truly adorable in her photo! She had a nice run today - probably bouncing a bit tonight. Darwin was continually having high numbers prior to his current crazy streak, but man even though his numbers were still much higher than "normal" - he was feeling MUCH better once we started him eating low carb, and getting insulin. I didn't realize how "not well" he'd actually been until he felt as well as he does! :( I'm so glad that Asia is feeling so well!! :joyful:

:woot:Asia's 21?!? And playing with Da Bird?!? That sounds like a really happy kitty feeling pretty darn good. Forget about the numbers that is such a victory when they act like they were pre Dx. Yay!!:bighug:

Nice blues:cool::cool:
She's always been a really happy and very active cat, she loves attention and pets, she will lay next to someone, but she's never been a lap cat type. She loves da bird and spazzing around the house like a cheetah! It was really great to see her like that today.
