Was out last night, so her shot was not till +13. This moring I tested at +10 BG 250, and 15 minutes later, she was 223. (meter error? or really down? Or she had eaten at earlier test and I didn't know it?). I waited till +11.25 and she was 256 and I shot .4 just to be safe. (my complicated being away schedule starts tonight. But I think I will go to my daughter's to help her, come home to shoot, and go back. I don't want to risk shooting too early, I will be worrying about her all night while I am away if I do that)

Giving her the pill this morning was another disaster. She shakes her head while I am trying to get the pill down, (so I guess it doesn't go far enough) and then spits it out when I let go. I had to do it 3 times, andshe was yowling, and I am unnerved. Today I am going to check out pill pockets.
 
Awww :sad: did the vet say if they have an injectable form? Or there are a few things they make a patch for. You can also get compounded chewy treats, but if the meds taste bad I'm not sure that would fly (nor does it sound like she's real likely to want to eat a chewy treat). If you are interested I can PM you the pharmacy name & # I have used, and I think they will send you some free sample chewies (no meds in them, just to try out & see if she would eat them, and which flavor she likes). They get pricey though for the compounding. Nothing is easy I guess :YMSIGH:
 
Bought some pill pockets and successfully gave her the pill! But it really gave her bad mouth symptoms. Don't know it that was just coincidence and anything she ate just then would have done it---or if it had something to do with the pill pocket. Will keep trying. If this doesn't work it occurs to me I might try coating the pill in butter or something like that to make it slide down easier. Although that might be very messy when she struggles.

Gave her a second pill pocket tonight and it worked with no mouth symptoms! (this was a slightly smaller pill--they are split and not all evenly). Keeping my fingers crossed! THanks for the recommendation, Joanna!
 
I'm glad to hear the pill pockets worked. That will make you life easier.

Good luck with you crazy schedule for the next couple of days, I hope everything goes smoothly.
