Todays AMPS is 224 - trying to not feel like a failure

this arc is more like a ramp since lando started eating unaided. Im hoping its just his body not being in “ survival mode”

pros: eating full calories unaided now; energy in the morning is best ever

cons: now peeing and drinking a lot; very loose stools; obviously numbers

Is /has he been eating different food? That would explain the loose stool. The peeing and drinking is due to the higher bg. As he feels better and better I bet the bg stabilizes. If not you can increase in a couple of days. I’m glad he is eating well. Is he getting any of the medications now?

Hi Elise!
He is absolutely eating different food. After 2 wks of syringe feeding with no success, i tried Dr E’s kibble. I wasnt happy to go back to dry, but couldnt figure anything else out.
I am still trying new wet foods ( sheeba, dr E wet samples, fussie cat, and friskies are my next tries).
I still get 4 syringe fulls of weruva along with the dry.
His calorie intake went almost double since kibble.

As lando ate full meals, i slowly stopped meds ( pepcid stopped last night as the last one).

thanks for replying as always, and yes will look to that increase in 3 more days if nothing changes.

stay well!

The tummy s reacting to different foods for sure and will resolve. I put the threat out so Lando might see it. Have a great weekend.

Oooo i hope so ( re tummy will settle). He is constantly throwing curveballs at me, but im thrilled his energy seems really great lately.
I am putting the threat of higher doses AND new wet food out there for him ;) haha.

By the way, you are not a failure, Chelsea. You are doing the best you can. I don't think many people would have syringe fed their kitty for 2 1/2 weeks. That was quite the effort. I'm so glad to hear he has great energy in the morning. Maybe now, that he is eating on his own, he will start to feel better. If he eats better with the Dr. Elsey's - let him - but keep trying to get him interested in wet food. The most important thing is for him to eat, stay is safe glucose numbers and be a happy, loving kitty. Good luck with everything!
