I showed him your msg, Bhooma. He saw he looked at itGood to see he is eating with enthusiasm
Work the dose, Fistuk!
But Fistuk is known to be doing whatever he likes in his own time ...
Hi Bron. Thanks for checking inHi Shelly, how are you managing the 60 ml sub Q fluids a day? I think it is important to do if you can possibly manage it.
I’m glad he is eating better. What foods are you feeding him now?
You are doing a really good job looking after him.
Mostly Mac's or Premiere which is 3/5% and sometimes Lily's kitchen that's either 0% or close to, can't remember now. What foods are you feeding him now?
Thank you!! It's a labour of love. Not easy to see him hurt or sacred by needles, not easy to see him weak but I have faith in him and I keep on telling him he's a really brave boy xxYou are doing a really good job looking after him.
Are you talking about ondansetron?BTW the Onda. Hasn't given him diarrhoea which is great news!
I gave him 1/4 tablet twice yesterday. Didn't see a reason to give him today. The vet suggested giving him 1/4 tablet 2-3 times a day only when needed and foe max 3 days afterwards I should call them if it doesn't seem to work.
YES. In fact without him around it was tough to do alone. He's really resisting so my husband needs to hold him strongly in place and then he tries to give him his favourite treat which he stopped taking during the SQ. At least he's willing to take it after as a reconciliation prize and it gets him out of anger quicker.Have you tried getting your husband to hold him while you give the subQ fluids?
YesAre you talking about ondansetron?
I think 4mgWhat is the strength of the tablet?
I must tell you that I'm not a great fan of meds. I'm happy to give him when it's needed but I need to be sure it really is needed. if he's eating with enthusiasm just not by himself it tells me that he's being himself and not having nauseaIt can be given every 8 hours and can be given for much longer than 3 days

Good morning from here![]()

80ml went in and it was over with quite quickly
That's great, Shelly!Just to say we've had a very successful SQ session80ml went in and it was over with quite quickly
I think I didn't do the pinch properly. I'll keep getting better![]()

That's great, Shelly!![]()

Actually no, that's an under dose. The dose for ondansetron oral is 0.5-1.0 mg/kg every 6-8 hours. Fistuk, at 4.4 kg, should be getting at least 2 mg per dose and can go up to 4. Dosing for injectable is half that dose, sometimes vets tell you the same dose for the pills. Neko was sadly under dosed, before I knew better. The dose of 1/4 of a 4 mg tablet for 4.4 kg weight is correct.
Thank youGreat news on the subq today. Well done.![]()

By the way, ondansetron can cause constipation, so should not be an issue for diarrhea. You do want to prevent nausea, not chase it, so I would only stop it when it's clear he's eating enthusiastically on his own.
Whenever he freaks you out with blue or green in the PM cycle and you need help, tag @Angela & Cleo and @tiffmaxee. They're in the US, so they will be up when it's the middle of the night for you and me!Give us some yellowwwwwwwwww )or blue or green )![]()

Hi Shelly can I ask you why you keep the needle in the freezer?s. i keep the 20G needle in the freezer. I
I've seen it recommended in several places, including a video I received from someone here. It seems to be less painful when it goes in, acting like anaesthesia.Hi Shelly can I ask you why you keep the needle in the freezer?
I used to have to give Tyler's brother fluids and just left then out
@shellys
I never knew that but it makes senseI've seen it recommended in several places, including a video I received from someone here. It seems to be less painful when it goes in, acting like anaesthesia.
You keep only a few needles in the freezer no longer than a few days (not the whole box). I keep 4-5 in the freezer at a time.
Tyler's brother was so easy to give sub fluids to that he would purr lol. He was such a good boy.I’m happy I can offer something backI never knew that but it makes sense.

They're having a pink PJ partyMy cat is dressed in pink tonight like yours. but I'll take the opportunity to give ourselves a break from the punctures

Save the staying awake for another night when you really need to stay up. Hit that pillow!I'm happy to go to sleep but I'm also looking forward to staying awake to track the greens...
I would look at his symptoms when you offer him food, besides in the syringe. Good list of nausea symptoms here: http://www.felinecrf.org/appetite_loss_nausea_vomiting.htm#symptomsDo you think he's only syringe eating bc of nausea?
