AMPS 368 Gave Cleo 0.5 U

I won't be home today to do any midcycle tests, but I don't think she will be dropping that much with no depot. I was able to get the clindamycin down her without getting too much on us :-D Also, she immediately began eating her FF Appy treat, so I hope she has a better last memory of me!

It is bittersweet starting insulin again, but I just feel relieved that she will now feel better. Appy is good. She looks raggedy, and tired. I found a small, dried up, brown liquid throw up with a few dried up FF Appy shreds in it. I assume it is from her.

TGIF!!!!

OT - DH and I were planning a trip to NJ this month. At first, before Cleo's original DX, we planned on finding cheap airfares. Once she was diagnosed, we decided to hold off on flying, but maybe drive up. So no commitment. I am so happy we made that choice!! No pressure, and I will have the whole week of 10/21 off!! This time I will work on training DH to give injections, not just test, so maybe my sis and I can get up there for a long weekend. Miss my sibs!!

Healing/appy vines to those kitties in need!

Re: 10/04 Cleo AMPS 368

Good luck with the insulin. I hope it gets Cleo back on track and feeling good soon.

Cleo actually seems brighter to me tonight. As usual, she had no problem with taking her insulin. I am glad to see a lower number at @ +4.5.

I wish I could make our shot times, 7:30 & 7:30, but that won't happen until I am able to retire! I am hoping for a BTB tomorrow if all furbabies cooperate. ;-)

I am starting Cleo on a new med tomorrow. Benazepril. I hate starting a new med. Fear of the unknown and all that. It is for her blood pressure and trace of protein in her UA.

Hope everyone is having a good night!

Shasta was on Benazapril for a while and I probably should have kept her on it, but when I transferred to our new vet, he suggested we taper off of that and her atenolol. I was too much of a chicken to back her off of the atenolol, but I did taper her off the benaz. Just recently, I came across this page from Tanya's website regarding benazepril: http://www.felinecrf.org/treatments_misc.htm

Hope you have a great weekend, Jane

Hi Jane,
I understand exactly you are both disappointed and relieved that Cleo is getting insulin again.
I'm sure Cleo will feel better and that will make you happy too!
And I'm happy to hear that she's already brighter. :-D

Hi Jane, in answer to your question, I did not notice any side effects when Shasta was on benazepril. In fact, that's why I didn't mind tapering her off...because I didn't think it was doing anything. I'm sure it was doing stuff for her internally (now that I've read and researched, etc.)...but again, that was Shasta. I did find it extremely easy to pop that pill right down her throat...it's so tiny! Sending Cleo Good-meds vines!
