Good morning!

This morning was very hectic. Cooper absolutely refused to eat the cans that I had (I even tried different flavors, to no avail). My boss has already gotten on to me about my tardiness since he's made me late so often lately, so I was extremely stressed. I even broke out the baby food and put a bit on top, and he started to lick at it, so I quickly ran out the door. I'm worried he won't actually eat, but I had to leave. I gave his full shot (he took a few bites initially, so I thought it was safe to give), so I hope he will be okay. :( After all of that, once in the car I realized that I never tested him again before I left at +1 as I usually do.

Anyway, not trying to be a complainer! Mostly just wondering if anyone has any other tips? He loves his freeze-dried chicken treats, but will not eat them as a topper on the food. I've tried with water on the food, without water, heating it up, different brands/flavors. Sometimes he'll gobble something up so excitedly, then the next feeding turn up his nose. Spoon feeding worked for awhile, but not so much anymore. I'm running out of ideas!

Hi Gabrielle,
I know how distressing when they simple turn their nose up to everything we offer!
I don't know how many cans I wasted in my desperate attempt to make Mikan eat SOMETHING!
Like you say, one day, she loves one kind, and next day, she looks so offended by the very same thing she was happy with just the day before
Angela (@Angela & Cleo ) suggested that I try topping MC or HC that she likes over LC - I've been experimenting it now.
When you have to go, you just have to make sure that he eats SOMETHING, so even if he ends up with a little higher carb level, this maybe a better course of action?

I did think about that this morning, because like you mentioned, I was getting desperate lol! That may be a good idea, I'll have to try it. That little bugger! I wish I had the money to feed him freeze-dried raw food since apparently that is what he loves most in this world, but unfortunately I only make canned food money. :p

HRH Cleo lovessss to be picky when I have to leave the house right after shot time. She has impeccable timing!
She did it to me last night at PMPS :banghead:. I had to resort to a Shrimp flavor with 9% Carb  But safety first.

Take a look at this List of low carb healthy treats as it suggests that "TIP: Most of the freeze dried treats for dogs are single ingredient and can be fed to a cat as well. The bag and treats are larger than the cat treats and only costs a few dollars more. The treats can be broken up into smaller pieces."

Another option may be ZiwiPeak Air Dried. It can be used as a topper.

I've also found that Cleo will go back to her bowl right around onset to finish up what she rejected earlier.

I wonder if Cooper is just not hungry at shot time. When is his last snack/mini meal at night? Maybe make it an hour earlier so he wakes up hungry/ier?

I have actually noticed he does seem to go back to his food at +2 when I come in to test him (when I am home to do so), but that is usually after he had already eaten a little bit of the food initially. I wonder if he will still do that this morning since he "didn't like" what I gave him lol.

His last snack is at 10:15pm (+5) and it's a teaspoon and a half. Should I perhaps cut it down to just a teaspoon or, like you suggested, make it earlier? He does at least seem to be eating his snacks again (he gets only one other snack at +3, a teaspoon and a half as well). What's so silly is that he acts excited when he sees the plate of food and meows for it like he used to, but once I put it down he's like, "Eh, nevermind." lol! I wonder sometimes if he got used to being excited for it and then realizes, "Oh, wait, actually I'm not that hungry."
